Major union leaders in Los Angeles County Monday pledged their support to the Black Lives Matter agenda working toward defunding the Los Angeles Police Department and redirecting those funds to community organizations.
Leaders from United Teachers Los Angeles, Service Employees International Union and others came out to a peaceful protest in front of City Hall calling for an end to systemic racism.
Its really just bound to ideologies that all of America operates on, ideologies that have been inherited from generation after generation, ideologies that tell one group of people that they are more dominant and in a position of power over another group of people, one demonstrator said.
Along with an end to systemic racism, the demonstrators also called for the city to go even further to defund the LAPD.
We dont want $150 million taken out of the budget, or $100 million taken out of the budget, Melina Abdullah, co-founder of BLM-LA, said. We want the whole thing. We want to really radically reimagine what it means to have public safety and community safety.

Activists say reallocating money from police department budgets to social services is a great idea, but police officers said that even an 8% budget cut will mean major losses in coverage.
Youre going to end up delaying investigations of murders and rapes and assaults, your violent crimes, Robert Harris, of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, said. Youre going going to decimate our ability to crackdown on things like human trafficking, youre going to pull officers away from the homeless task force.
LAPPL is a union that represents more than 9,900 sworn LAPD officers.
BLM-LA leaders said they would not stop their peaceful protests until they see change happening.
Public unions shooting each other.
More popcorn!!!!
Great Society 2.0?
Funny how only democratic run cesspools want to defund police. I say go for it as long as they build a wall and dont let anyone leave after the cops are gone.
Union leaders supporting Marxism
Be careful what you wish for. YOUR government unions may be next.
Brilliant move! CA is experiencing an exodus from the state, especially it’s major cities. So, as the mass exodus by law-abiding citizens from LA continues, the city need not worry since that exodus will be matched by an influx of thugs and drug dealers. Yep...brilliant.
There was a black out in New York City I think in 1977 and it was an unbelievable amount of looting that took place in just a 24 hours
There was also a police strike I forget which city in about $6 billion worth of damage or meeting occurred it just the 48 hours at the place were on strike
So just think for a second if the police go away altogether and these liberal hellholes
it will be Somalia
Folks are gonna need Snake Pliskin real soon.
There are a lot of stupid people around. They have never had a rational thought. They are ruled by their emotions.
Teachers Union and the Purple People Beaters.
Heard a cop union boss on local radio this morn. Make no mistake these unions are solid Democrat voters and contributors.
I’m pro cop but the union can rot.
Postal union leaders will steal elections with mail in ballots
Unions are American enemies
Well, that’s six kinds of major stupid.
Oh no. If you defund the police then those funds go back to the taxpayers. You don't get to steal them for something else.
Aren’t we up to Great Society 87.4 by now? They’ll never get the bugs out.
Union leaders = mafiosi
I think the only possible “good” outcome of this would be for cities to Balkanize as various neighborhoods simply say “We are no longer part of city-X” Thos could potentially cripple the political left as LA needs the tax revenue from the wealthier neighborhoods.
“Leaders from United Teachers Los Angeles, Service Employees International Union and others came out to a peaceful protest in front of City Hall calling for an end to systemic racism.”
I guess the police and correctional workers union weren’t there.
LOL. "back to the taxpayers"! You are hilarious!
