"Major union leaders in Los Angeles County Monday pledged their support to the Black Lives Matter agenda working toward defunding the Los Angeles Police Department and redirecting those funds to community organizations."

Oh no. If you defund the police then those funds go back to the taxpayers. You don't get to steal them for something else.

.
That’s the whole point. The police department is seen as where the money is. The other unions want the money and jobs to be diverted to them.

A similar thing happened in Oceanhill/Brownsville in NYC, in 1968. The black community board wanted all the teachers (Jewish) in their district to be fired and their jobs re-distributed to black residents. All the liberals and the NYTimes supported the community board. The teachers union went on strike. (They eventually won.)
