James Bennet, the Editorial Page editor at The New York Times resigned over the weekend after backlash over an op-ed by US Sen. Tom Cotton.
Debate is no longer allowed in Americas liberal newsrooms, and the left has the scalps to prove it.
James Bennet is out as NY Times editorial-page editor; Stan Wischnowski, as top editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer. Neither was allowed to stay even after humiliating themselves by admitting their thought crimes and hailing the virtues of the lynch mobs.
Bennets sin: His paper published an opinion column by a US senator arguing for deploying the military if riots got out of control.
This puts Black @nytimes staff in danger, numerous Times employees tweeted, without explanation.
Letting Sen. Tom Cotton write what a majority of Americans believe is dangerous? Pure idiocy. Especially when the papers run pieces by a host of tyrants, without complaints.
Yet, after briefly defending the principle of free exchange of ideas, Bennet and the papers publisher folded. Now Bennet and his No. 2 are gone.
Wischnowski is unemployed thanks to a headline. Buildings Matter, Too ran above a piece by Pulitzer Prize-winner Inga Saffron, who warned that riot damage will ultimately end up hurting the very people the protests are meant to uplift.
That was too disrespectful to #BlackLivesMatter though the piece was perfectly progressive. Now the Inquirer is vowing to empower the sensitivity police, too.
Employees of that crucible of democracy, the press, now see voices different from their own as a threat to be crushed and the bosses dont dare tell them no. Pray for the republic.

This isn’t a new phenomena it’s just that they are running wide open with it now.
It’s weird when a publication describes something that happened decades ago like it’s currently happening.
The tense is wrong. It is not seizing, is has seized
they are the well trained thought police from our very own liberal colleges where free speech is against student policy.
They tested the methods on campuses for decades. Now they’re bringing it to their version of the real world.
TV and print media are dying. They simply cant compete with the internet and everything it offers in terms of immediate access, access anywhere, anytime, information of any length, and the multiple formats of video, audio, print, etc
An in depth TV news report will give you 3 minutes of information. Most are much shorter. This is simply pathetic for anyone who wants to truly be informed.
And as such organizations die, they will become MORE ideological and close-minded, as they circle the wagons, trying to ward off their impending doom.
It’s cart and horse reversal. The thought police are orchestrated by liberal newsrooms.
“are seizing”??
The thought police successfully seized the newsrooms about thirty years ago. They are just now emboldened to drop any pretense.
In a different sense, this is not as dangerous as it seems.
The danger is that the New York Times remains viewed as a significant entity no matter what its policies or opinions.
Why is that?
If the organization reveals that it has no moral or ethical focus and is a tool of a bankrupt ideology (communism) then nobody should pay it any attention.
Why do we continue to see articles posted here about what they say on CNN or what is printed in the NYT? We know it won’t be worthwhile or useful. Do we go out of our way to find out what the latest offerings of the Cuban state media happen to be? No, because we know it will be drivel and a waste of our time to consider it.
Infiltration of newsrooms happened a long time ago. think spin, spin, spin.
They are just purging anyone that won’t totally toe the socialist/anarchist line.
yup
now just blatantly overt
The colleges are witnessing old school liberals being overwhelmed and outmaneuvered by open Marxists.
Just like the Bolsheviks vs. the Mensheviks.
To borrow a line from the Nazis, it’s “The Triumph of the Will”, the Marxists have the stronger Will.
They have as a guideline the precedence set by Comrade Stalin of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics. When he took of the Soviet Union from Lenin by 1942 he had liquidated every person that was in a position of power under Lenin.
That is the Communists m.o. To wit} The stronger eliminate the weaker to prevent the weak from becoming strong . But the young Communists over here will, at the right time, learn this the hard way.
The government doesn’t directly control thought. It leaves that job to the media, which has already implemented 100% thought control: you get fired, demonetized and shamed if you break the rules.
James Bennet: Unperson.
As the medical masks are put on, the leftist masks are taken off.
Everyone’s outing themselves.
How is this any different from the way they have operated for 80-90 years?
So what does that mean? They go from hate America to despise America?-)
