The lawyer representing the family of George Floyd has urged the United Nations to intervene in the investigation of the black man's police-related slaying.

Crump says he wants the UN to make recommendations for systematic police reforms, including a de-escalating techniques, independent prosecutors and autopsies for every extrajudicial police killing, 'in an effort to stop further human rights abuses.'

Crump's request to the UN also comes as Philonise Floyd, the brother of George Floyd , will reportedly testify before the House Judiciary Committee this week.
