June 06, 2020 - 09:29 AM EDT Drew Brees responds to Trump: 'We must stop talking about the flag' and focus on 'real issues'

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees on Friday pushed back after President Trump said the football player should not have apologized for controversial statements against athletes who kneel during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racism.
In an Instagram post directed at the president, Brees said he has realized that the issue at hand is not about the American flag.
"It has never been. We can no longer use the flag to turn people away or distract them from the real issues that face our black communities," Brees wrote.
"We did this back in 2017, and regretfully I brought it back with my comments this week. We must stop talking about the flag and shift our attention to the real issues of systemic racial injustice, economic oppression, police brutality, and judicial & prison reform," he added.
Brees said earlier this week that he still does not support NFL players kneeling during the national anthem, saying he "will never agree with anybody disrespecting" the country or its flag.
Brees was once a breath of fresh air.

I stopped giving a sh*t about what Mr. Brees had/has to say when he caved and bent a knee to the cult.

The real issue is black crime and violence, which the media/dem complex (and a large percentage of republicans as well) thinks that everyone should accept, and even encourage and reward their behavior.
I didn't know an NFL quarterback could be blind. This is ALL about the flag, the Constitution, Liberty. Those folks who feel oppressed in America will never succeed.

For those 60-90 seconds, we ARE talking about the flag, Mr. Idiot Brees. That’s what the song is about. Your disgraceful teammates have an INFINITE number of ways, other than disrespecting the flag, to protest any issue they choose. How about using the other 99.99% of their time that week?
