Elmer J. Fudd will have to find another way to bag that wascally wabbit, Bugs Bunny, during hunting season. Because in the updated Looney Tunes cartoons streaming on HBO Max, he wont be allowed to have a rifle, according to a report.
In the new versions of the classic cartoons, Fudd will still be hunting, but will use a scythe. Thats a modification in response to US gun violence, according to a report.
In response to US gun violence, the showrunners will not include firearms in Fudds arsenal. That is not to say that he has given up hunting Bugs Bunny, though he just uses a scythe instead.
Were not doing guns, said Peter Browngardt, executive producers of the series, in an interview with the New York Times. But we can do cartoony violence TNT, the Acme stuff.
Browngardt added that the cartoons will stay true to the originals. I always thought, What if Warner Bros had never stopped making Looney Tunes cartoons? As much as we possibly could, we treated the production in that way.
The modern versions will reflect modern sensibilities, he said.
Were going through this wave of anti-bullying, everyone needs to be friends, everyone needs to get along. Looney Tunes is pretty much the antithesis of that. Its two characters in conflict, sometimes getting pretty violent.
HBO Maxs just-launched kids and family programming includes new Warner Bros Animation-produced cartoons Looney Tunes based on the iconic animated shorts. The service includes the catalog of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies animated shorts featuring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and their pals that aired from 19301969, encompassing some 250 shorts in all.
Warner Bros Animation will produce the new Looney Tunes Cartoons. The new series will include 80 eleven-minute episodes, each comprised of animated shorts that vary in length and include adapted storylines for todays audience. Pete Browngardt (Uncle Grandpa) and Sam Register serve as executive producers.
To indoctrinate the children against guns........................
There’s an old Mickey Mouse cartoon with Chip and Dale where Mickey grabs a shotgun from over the fireplace and chases the chipmonks. The shotgun has been replaced with a broom.
It isn’t the same.
Seeing that it’s Disney, it’s a PHALLIC SYMBOL...........................
Compound bow with deer arrowheads, which are really gnarly.
Only a fool would watch these. There are tons of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies from the Golden Age of animation. I have 4 or 5 DVD sets and 3 Blu-ray sets of them. Elmer Fudd with a scythe is too ludicrous to contemplate.
Kahlua snackbar - chop the head off with a long blade
isn’t Elmer a hunter? Is he vegan now?
New Looney Tunes Cartoons Ban Elmer Fudd From Having A Gun But Other Mayhem Is Okay
Don’t you just love it when these so-called leaders are making emotional decisions in stead of economic decisions.

Just shows how stupid these people are. Elmer didn’t carry a rifle, he carried a shotgun. None of his pictures ever show him with either a pump, which he did use in a few scenes, or a bolt action at any time. But he mostly carried a double barreled shotgun.
“Elmer was usually cast as a hapless big-game hunter, armed with a double-barreled shotgun (albeit one which could be fired much more than twice without being reloaded) and creeping through the woods “hunting wabbits”.”
Tack that on to the new hunting effort using a scythe, an elongated curved blade on a wooden handle that will hack anything it hits slowly torturing the receiver to death, which is far greater damage than the shotgun, and is going to be impossible as there isn’t a human alive that can chase down a running full grown bunny. Let’s change history.
Another thought like this is when they took the guns away from the law enforcement people at the blocking of Elliot and ET when they were on the bike. Thanks to ILM and John Williams, it was one of the most powerful moments of the film and actually said something. But removing the guns took better than half the meaning out of the shot. Ruined it for me as it changed the need for it and turned it into a special effects practice not a scene.

C210N, you cut it off too early. The result of Itchy’s blast has Scratchy being blown 93m miles (in)to the sun and being burnt to a crisp. You should have let us see that. And FYI (lookin at you also, dfwgator) the gun and lemonade clips are from the same episode where Marge, Maude Flanders, and Helen Lovejoy protest cartoon violence, one of my fave Simpsons eps.
...and Yosemite Sam?
What insane asylum did these people escape from?
lol
I love that scene. It’s still hilarious!
If you look at the cartoon clip, you’ll notice Sam has a huge “no” list of people who can’t ride the roller coaster. At the top of the list, it says:
“No Liberals”
