NYC man who threatened to burn down Diamond District charged with ‘making terroristic threats,’ police say

A Brooklyn man who delivered a threat to New Yorkers during a live interview with Fox News on Saturday has been charged with multiple offenses, including making terroristic threats, police said.

During the live interview Saturday afternoon, a man who identified himself as “Ace Burns” threatened to burn down the Diamond District if New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio did not meet with protesters and give the youth “some direction.”

"Today, I'm giving a demonstration from Barclay's Center at 6 p.m. to City Hall, and that's the first stop -- and we're hoping [Mayor] De Blasio and [Gov.] Cuomo come out and talk to us and give the youth some direction," Burns told Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich.

"But if they don't, then [the] next stop is the Diamond District," he said, referring to a block on Manhattan's 47th Street known for jewelry shops. "And gasoline, thanks to Trump, is awfully cheap. So, we're giving them a chance right now to do the right thing."

I went to visit my oldest son who lives in Troy, New York overnight. It's less than 2 hours away from me here in Rome. We went out last night to pick up some BBQ for supper, and as we passed downtown Troy, many of the buildings were covered in plywood, and most of the plywood was covered with graffiti, and BLM stickers all over the place.

It was actually pretty quiet on his street last night. We only heard some fire crackers in the distance. As I left his place today (he lives down the street from Russell Sage college), the street was lined with cars on both sides, and groups of people, many dressed in black were walking down the street, and heading to downtown for an obvious protest. They were all white. And when I got on Route 787 to head to the NY State Thruway, there were State Trooper cars spaced along that side of the highway, and I'm assuming they were on the other side as well, heading back toward Troy. I just did a search and the protest in Troy is supposed to be BLM. Here's a blip from the local news channel:

"In Troy, a Black Lives Matter rally is happening on Sunday. It will begin at 3 p.m. outside the Rensselaer County Courthouse. The Troy PBA President told protesters on Facebook that police will make sure to assist the group in protesting peacefully and making sure their voices are heard. He also said they would make sure they feel safe and that their constitutional rights are protected."

But will the protesters guarantee the safety, and Constitutional rights of the police?
