After Drew Brees apologized multiple times last week for suggesting that NFL players who kneeled during the national anthem disrespected the country, his wife apologized as well.
Brittany Brees posted a lengthy message on Instagram that featured two quotes from Martin Luther King: in the end we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends,” and, “Not only will we have to repent for the sins of bad people, but we also will have to repent for the appalling silence of good people.”
Her own comments started with Brees writing, “WE ARE THE PROBLEM.”

We have heard stories from men and women we have known and loved for years about the racism that occurred in their lives stories that were never shared or talked about because somehow they were considered normal. We want to do better, we want to HEAR you, and we will fight for you because thinking we are not part of the problem is checking the box it means we are are not doing enough. They have been threatened. This is all about their children’s safety rather than their own reputations. Drew should be a man and announce his retirement from a league that has put him in such an unsafe predicament. Then he can move to a safer environment for himself and his wife and children. Trying to maintain his pro career at the expense of his core values is a tragic mistake and one he will ultimately regret. The NFL is a monster for subjecting their white players to this treatment at the hands of total thugs.

How many ‘martyrs’ of the Black Lives Movement would be alive today if they had shown just a sliver of respect to officers that they are demanding police give them by the bushel full?
How many times do we have to watch on Live PD as someone goes ‘you’re pulling me over just because I’m black’ with expired tags, no driver’s license, drugs in the car, a gun in the car? I mean, the BLM person is going ‘the officer should just let them go because so and so in some town did something’ A rational person is going ‘dude, if you’re going to be transporting drugs around, make sure at least your tags and all your lights work.’
My father in law was coming back from the gun show, got pulled over in a felony stop as the vehicle matched the description of a stolen car. Handcuffs, and they go to clear the full sized station wagon and literally, there’s not a place in the car for a passenger to sit as everything is full of guns and ammo.
They check the VIN, no match, check his FFL, and check a few dozen of the serial numbers to see if any of them were stolen, everything comes back clean. The stop resulted in 34 gun sales over the next two weeks and took maybe 45 minutes.
He was exhausted; left the house at 5 that morning, it was 11 at night, it was uncomfortable, it was scary, it was long. If he had run from police and got killed, it probably would have hit the news with ‘man with arsenal stopped by police in suspected stolen car’ with pictures of hundreds of handguns and long guns and piles of ammo. A correction MIGHT have appeared in the paper two weeks later.
Officer’s got a job to do, arguing is for court.
