Mayor Jacob Frey (D) is seeking federal aid to help Minneapolis recover from the protests and riots that have wrecked the area.
With at least $55 million in estimated damage and far more to come, Minneapolis will need state and federal aid as it attempts to rebuild hundreds of structures after the riots following George Floyds death, Frey explained on Thursday, according to the Star Tribune.
The report continued:
City officials are still putting together a complete tally of the destruction and cautioned that estimates are likely to rise significantly. Gov. Tim Walz and members of Minnesotas congressional delegation are trying to get government assistance to offset that cost. But in the past, neither the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) nor Congress has consistently sent federal funding to cities ravaged by riots.

What you said. Yeah!
Have the President give him Rush’s number. Rush can help get a “Dan’s Bake Sale” going...maybe even offer to do an E.I.B. live remote
After what he said about Trump?
The answer is no, Soy Boy.
GFY and like said above. Get your hollywood friends to help out.
A penny saved in the cost of police arresting looters and a pound paid for the cost of looting. That’s the tickets!
Have Mayor Frey resign for the F-up.
Force majeure
Your move...
Go Fund Me is the answer.
Seriously it is time to think “outside the box, and strategically. I think it would be worth a paltry 55 million dollars if the price tag could be strictly kept at that figure, not a dollar more. It would be allocated perhaps in several phases, and everything organized methodically and DEFINITELY overseen by a Construction Mgr. representing the WH. In fact Trump could marshall his own contractots rhar he’s used on countless bldg. projects. Face it Minneapolis is broke and broken in ways even they don’t know. Volunteers marshalled by Trump from both outside and inside Mpls, could be sent there, in a test-case re-development/revitalization effort. I am thinking more on this and these are just the first spontaneous ideas I am sending out as they come to me.There would be numerous strings attached, among them the most important one being that henceforth they and they alone would be responsible for taking care of any damage caused by rioters in the future themselves. I would welcome any ideas, and I don’t care if you think this is idiotic. I am just thinking of ways to beat them at their own game, something that, if it were handled the right way would make it more likely Trump would do well there in November. Practical strings attached like I said involving disbursement of funds as work is completed, and NO strings attached that might suggest “Now you’ll have to vote for me.” Beat them at their own game. What do you think—bad idea, good idea, or impossible? I think it’s good especially for the symbolic value of showing support for the pain and suffering the city has been through “thanks to a corrupt police force, with Chauvin as the most corrupt. I think it would be the greatest gesture a President could make—seriously. And no, I’m not a troll, I’ve been here a long time-—bad idea? Anybody else have prognostications for the future of the city especially after they’ve announced a total re-imagining of their “police” structure...
So Minneapolis the source of all this across the country riots, wants the rest of the country to pay for rebuilding its own city that they could not protect?
I understand helping out when a hurricane or earthquake hits and area, but not when the city fails in one of its core functions of public safety. Yes, I will help pay for sending in a federalized national guard or even the military, but not to give corrupt local politicians money to rebuild after riots their policies helped cause.
We are supposed to support bad, violent behavior? We are going to contribute to one of the largest shopping sprees in American history. Dude forget about it.
I might go and tell them that for every dollar of funding from the state of Minnesota, the fed would match it with 50 cents...maxing out at 10-million from the Fed.
The problem is...what exactly are you paying for? They’d have to show me a list, and I doubt that they have such a list.
Pocket change for the Bezos and Soros of the world. Zero lessons learned if bailed out by PDT.
Hey mayor, just take another knee and pander to your looter crowd...

No.
Like Clinton during the floods, “ low interest loans” to rebuild
Defund police, fire and teachers as you didn’t use those to prevent the rioting or teach during the Wuhan Virus. There’s your $55 mm.
NO way buddy. Go ask your Hollywood and DC cocktail circuit friends who encouraged people to destroy your town while you sat back and fiddled
Businesses and individuals can already write off their losses against their Federal taxes. All we need to do is to increase the amounts that can be written off and the number of years when the write offs can be claimed.
