Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey will seek state and federal aid to rebuild city structures following over a week of looting and rioting, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Friday.
Some 220 buildings have been damaged and require at least $55 million in repairs, the city’s Community Planning & Economic Development department said earlier this week, noting that the city was “not yet ready to produce a credible estimate.” City Council members warned that the costs will likely be far higher, while Mayor Frey said damages could reach into the “hundreds of millions.”

The mayor held the cops back. The looting and destruction were “justified” by the city pols. The damage is their own doing. And they want the rest of us to pay for it? I think that is called chutzpah.
He did nothing to stop the looters, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he enjoyed it. And now he wants the rest of us taxpayers to bail him out? No way.
No. They should start a GoFundMe and anyone who cares can donate. Look how much was raised for George Floyd.

And, the rebuilding of Chicago after that fire was basically a volunteer effort, with the call going out for as many able-bodied MEN as possible to assist in that rebuilding.
