MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (FOX 9) One of the police officers arrested and charged with aiding and abetting the murder of George Floyd was on his fourth day on the job when the incident occurred.
According to Earl Grey, the defense attorney for Thomas Lane, the rookie officer was on his fourth day on patrol.
What would your state of mind be if you work your rear end off to become a cop and four days on the job, youre accused of murder? Grey asked, arguing that his client did not aid in a murder.
Lane, along with Tou Thao and J. Alexander Kueng face second-degree aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter charges. Derek Chauvin, a 19-year Minneapolis officer, is charged with second-degree murder in the case.
In videos from the scene, according to charging documents, Lane can be heard asking several times about rolling Floyd over and Chauvin said no.
Youve got a 20-year cop on the front and my guys back there with four days, said Grey. Shall we roll him over? and he says, No, well wait for the ambulance twice. And then he says hes suffering from a delirium? I dont know what youre supposed to do as a cop.
During their first court appearances Thursday, Kuengs attorney described the rookie officer as a young African-American from North Minneapolis who wanted to make that community a better place.

If they convict the rookies, they can forget about police recruitment for a generation.
Literal “Training Day”
Training Day in real life?
This is what I have been saying from the beginning of this the kneeler was the SENIOR officer on the scene and I got raked over the coals by freepers what the hell is a person on the job for 4 days supposed to do AGAINST a 19 year veteran!!{
Bttt
He was not murdered. It was an accident. They did not put a gun to his stomach like Floyd did to the pregnant women in Texas when he robbed her.
Never had time to taste the juice. Dreams of that double dip retirement.. yikes!
What’s gonna happen to you today?
The problems with chauvin were well documented. They did not fire him. They at least should not have placed rookies with him
The chief of police ought to be being sanctioned.
That soon on the force, they should have had a Field Training Officer with them, FTO. I can’t imagine a jury would convict brand new rookies in a case like this. But the lynch mob has already formed for all four.
Honestly, I’m surprised the NYPD did not walk out the day after Coumo’s comments.
Thats fine with them they dont want police officers anyway SO had time recruiting will be just fine with them!!
What about Derek Chauvin working at the same night club with the victim, George Floyd?
Well, that’s pretty telling. Those two rookies didn’t have enough time on the job to even know to confront a senior officer. Having been a rookie myself at one time, we were taught to listen to what the senior officers said. They were the ones with the experience. What they didn’t tell you was that some of those more senior officers were scumbags, and you should never listen to them. That realization comes later after you’ve run into a few of them...and then you make a mental note, to steer clear of them.
I still say they will all walk in the end. The perp was fighting tooth and nail at every opportunity he had. That is why they kept him pinned down in a hold that the officers were trained to use in this situation. The perp did not die because of the knee on his neck. He died due to drugs, medical issues and his own resisting arrest actions. Just my opinion.
The only option a rookie had would be to quit on the spot, literally desert their post.
There are very few rookies that would do that.
Everyone knows GF had a criminal history and everyone knows the facts of his death aren’t yet fully known. Those are and will remain irrelevancies.
Floyd was certainly no rookie.
