SIG Sauer, long the target of disarmament campaigners in Germany, announced Thursday it intended by year’s end to close its factory at Eckernförde near Kiel, capital of Germany’s northernmost state of Schleswig-Holstein.
It blamed “locational handicaps” hindering its diverse pistol and sports guns sales, claiming a “few other local producers” were preferred in government purchases for Germany’s police forces and Bundeswehr military.
Public broadcaster NDR quoted manager Tim Castagne as saying the workers’ council at the Eckernförde site, established in 1951, had been briefed about some 125 job losses as well plans to fulfil purchase orders.
”Due to its international orientation, SIG Sauer is systematically excluded from tenders [in Germany], said Castagne, intimating, said NDR, that most of its weapons were developed in the United States. …

A more correct statement might be “that every 14 minutes around the world a person is killed by a human being using German weapon”
By the way, human beings have been killing each other since Cain killed Able.
The advent of firearms made it possible for the weak to stand equal against the strong.
I personally think that is overall a good thing.
And considering the size of the world that does not seem like a such a overwhelming statistic.
Earlier today, while playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat with Misery Mod 2.2.1 with TAZ - The Armed Zone addon, I sold my fully-upgraded Sig Sauer P226 and replace it with an upgraded fully-auto Glock 18c.
I feel kinda bad now.
Maybe we can give them some incentives to move to the USA, to a nice red state.

In a rare occasion some one will shoot and kill another human being in self-defense. Is that somehow a bad thing?

And you might want to do some research into how that all went down. ‘Mountain out of a molehill’ when talking about dealing with international regs, and all.
I carried a P-225 for a years vacation in the Middle East,and it was accurate, easy to maintain and worked under pretty austere conditions. Liked it so much I bought one when I got home. Great weapon, and great quality.
