The looters tore off the plywood that boarded up Macys flagship store in Herald Square, swarming by the dozens inside to steal whatever they could find before being chased down by the police. Others smashed the windows at a Nike store, grabbing shirts, jeans and zip-up jackets. They crashed into a Coach store, ransacked a Bergdorf Goodman branch and destroyed scores of smaller storefronts along the way.
The eruption of looting in the central business district of Manhattan long an emblem of the New Yorks stature and prowess struck yet another blow to a city reeling from the nations worst coronavirus outbreak.
The mayhem late on Monday night and into the early morning marred otherwise peaceful protests conducted by thousands of people across the city in the wake of the death of George Floyd, and it touched off a new crisis for Mayor Bill de Blasio. On Tuesday his fellow Democrat and frequent rival, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, criticized the citys response, saying, The NYPD and the mayor did not do their job last night.
Beginning Monday afternoon and growing wilder as night fell, small bands of young people dressed mostly in black pillaged chain stores, upscale boutiques and kitschy trinket stores in Midtown Manhattan, as the police at first struggled in vain to impose order.
Within hours, the normally vibrant center of wealth and upscale retail had descended into an almost clichéd vision of disorder: Streets were speckled with broken glass and trash can fires. Bands of looters pillaged stores without regard for nearby police officers. The screech of sirens echoed between skyscrapers.
By the early morning hours, a sense of lawlessness had set in.

We are not so moved when we see police officers standing around while shops are being vandalized and looted and business owners are sent into bankruptcy.
Fear not, Rose! Trump Tower is heavily protected and has been since 2016.
Purses, shoes, electronics, phones.
I thought there is NM on Hudson yards.
There is a Neiman Marus between 11th and 10th Ave in the Hudson Yards.

Protecting a tower. You double down on an amusement. Man.
Way over on 10th Avenue—too far.
It’s brand new and very far west.
To far for the looters. Macy’s is centrally located with a subway stop right at the corner and a few blocks to a tunnel out of Manhattan.
Since it’s so new and already filing for bankruptcy, I’d doubt it’s on the looters list—I even forgot about it and I’m an excellent shopper. LOL! Most of the high end boutiques in Midtown were stripped of their display merchandise and boarded up before we went into lockdown. The train stations in the 34th St. area always have Guard presence as I imagine will be the case in other stations. Curfew starts soon and I can already hear the helicopters flying overhead.
Agreed on the Mayor. But don’t give the Governor a pass. Forcing convalescent homes to take in Corona-infected patients, and kill off thousands of elderly, is HIS brainchild. And he seems to be PROUD of it! PA Gov. Wolf did something similar, AFTER his transvestite Health Secretary REMOVED “his” mother from a Home.
Are you kidding? They would be lynched.

It was like Mario Kart on the streets too. Dozens of $200k Mercs racing each other, nearly hitting people, only stopping to load up with bags of stolen stuff and speed on to the next spot.

Popcorn here, get your popcorn.
Herald Square is not that great of an area. Everyone comes into Penn and does their business in the city, but walk a few blocks East and South from Herald Square and you find yourself walking a little quicker after dark. Its not a surprise that they are having problems there.
Cuomo’s blaming de Blasio and the NYPD for not doing their job.
Have they named the F’ers in the vehicle yet?
Reminds me of the early days of Mugabe’s Zimbabwe.
