Curfew-defying looters with free rein beat a cop to the ground in a disturbing scene caught on video, set fires on streets and ransacked stores in the Bronx late Monday into early Tuesday.
The chaos finally prompted Mayor Bill de Blasio to dispatch extra police officers to the area, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
“Fordham is on fire,” Uptown Collective tweeted, showing a half dozen fires burning along a trash-strewn Fordham Road in the West Bronx.
“This is an ominous sign familia,” the tweet said, the Post reported. “This is not good for communities of color. Protest is called for but destroying our own community is not. Stay safe.”
The cop being beaten was caught on cellphone video and posted on Twitter by an NYPD police union.
It shows the uniformed officer on the ground as a man attacks him. A second man then runs up and throws an object at the officer. That person runs away as a third man picks up the object and hurls it at the officer. The person who shot the video is heard cursing the police.
The video shows the dazed officer getting to his feet with his gun drawn, holding it down at his side.

NYPD your governor and your mayor is THE ENEMY Allowing criminals to assault you is a despicable disgrace.
The police should issue an ultimatum. We can either do our job and restore order or we will no longer deploy to the streets.
They have NO leadership with elected officials who are still bashing the police as a mob destroys their city.
Why are they even deploying the police if they can’t do their jobs and are prosecuted for defending themselves? Why?

If you give a mob an inch they will take a mile.
Once they burn and loot one area they will move on to a new area for mayhem. “Let it burn” is not an option.
This should have been stopped immediately. Pretty much the entire country is in agreement about what happened and this has nothing to do with Floyd.
Chaos is the goal for November General Election.
Economy in a shambles, massive unemployment, rioting and looting, disease pandemic, total anarchy..............for a Democrat, it’s ALL GOOD....................
I agree. It’s not like I really want the police or the military to shoot anyone, but in a riot like these, if you can’t use real force, why are you there? What’s the point?
I predicted two days ago that they would kill 2-3 cops. That’s the next step in the escalation, when they think they are ready to provoke Trump.
It’s all planned and predictable.

How can anyone with a brain want to open a business in New York or any democrat city? Your business inventory will become free to take whenever hoods look at it.
I expect these cities to become ghost towns. The mayors that allowed this to go on have slit their own throat.

I have been stunned at how many politicians and reporters have flippantly remarked that insurance will make it all better.
Most insurance policies DO NOT cover civil unrest. That is a rider that few in these places could afford to have.
Most of these businesses were already teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and collapse from the virus. How do they recover from this and given the political environment why would they try?

It would be a terrible, terrible shame if the mayors mansion in Manhattan were targeted by looters and the police detail were somehow overwhelmed. If that historic mansion burned to the ground, during mayor Deblasio’s reign, it would be a horrible, horrible injustice.
1871 would be the year of the Chicago Fire, which leveled the city. So Pritzker's central philosophy appears to be to totally destroy something in order to re-build it. That does explain what he is doing to Illinois.
Doesn't completely explain his hostility toward organized religion, but since he is a Democrat does he really need an explanation?

One advantage of letting it burn is it exposes dems for who they are. At some point it becomes counter-productive.
The dems ALSO own the cop’s neck handling of George Floyd. They run the cities.
Trump needs to stay focused and disciplined and assist the states etc and make sure its clear that this is the dems’ mess.
These Dem leaders want Trump to take over, so they can cherry pick a staged incident to blame it on him...
