It really does look like he's holding up (upholding) the Law, because he is!

He's holding up his little black book in plain sight -- his book of secrets, where all of his important contacts and contractors are listed, where all his go-to love connections are named and recorded.

The Philistines have no clue. It's like the "Deal of the Century" plan that came complete with a Vision for Peace Conceptual Map --

"Palestine" is a corpse, blue and gaunt like Arafat in his final days. Too funny. Palestine-man even has a Hickman line hooked up to Gaza. Nice touch! After all, everyone knows that the best place to go for pain relief is Gaza.

How can people not see that God is a super-funny Guy? In the fullness of time, He gave us a President named... TRUMP.

It puts the surface noise, riots, COVID-19, control-freak governors, media deceivers et al into perspective.

David went for the simple no-nonsense "Can-Do" solution and reached into his bag. Which stone did he pull out? He had selected five smooth ones from the river.

Gen, Exo, Lev, Num, Deu.. well they all work. :)

"There's no harlot in this place."

“Really odd to hear, the defense of thes Antifa thugs/rioters/looters, on this forum, isn’t it?”

I used to be surprised, too, but we’re heavily infiltrated.

It helps to keep a list of our domestic enemies here.

Even Karl Rove had to correct Martha MacCallum, who made the same, incorrect statement. Rove rightly corrected her and reminded Martha that POTUS spoke to the George Floyd death, during his speech, at NASA, on Saturday.

Martha can at times be a dip sh*t.

My question here is, did the protesters balk at leaving?

Doesn't matter, when law enforcement issues a directive to move along or vacate and area, it's a lawful directive. If you choose to remain, you are no longer a peaceful protester, you are failing to abide by a lawful directive.

As someone mentioned, upthread (I believe), she’s nothing more than a Me-Again Meh-gyn wannabe.

She makes her disdain for PDJT quite obvious, most times.

Her saving grace, of late, is the honorable tribute program, she did, for our dear Veterans.

The first thing I saw on TV when I got up this morning was a big headline that Trump had “peaceful protesters tear gassed for photo op.”

The media spin on his church visit has begun in earnest.

I changed the channel. I cannot watch TV news in the US anymore.

In the videos I have seen, I did not see any attempt made to ask the protesters to move. On the other hand, they are from far away, so I have no idea if the park police had gone through and asked them to make space.

I mean, people know that if the President is going somewhere, the secret service has teh right and authority to move anybody they want, block any streets, etc. I’m just not sure it was a good look. It doesn’t hurt to be nice to peaceful protesters, and seems like it makes it easier to attack violent protesters later.

Yes, the 1930s group was there.

There is not an organization here. It isn’t like BLM. They are a bunch of people being goaded on by a bunch of bad rich actors who have done a great job of not getting pinned down as part of some official organization.

Soros uses a lot of people and small groups, but he clearly has set up a way that he is not a “leader” of some movement.

It’s the same reason the KKK isn’t a “terrorist organization”, because there is no “KKK” anymore, just a bunch of small organizations who call themselves KKK.

The first tear gas was fired a little after 6:30. You are right, his speech ended at 7pm, and if the capital police had waited until 7pm and fired tear gas, the story would not have been that tear gas was fired while the protesters still had a right to be there.

This isn’t Trump’s fault, he waited until after 7pm to do the walk.

So Trump did not “order” the gas? In all honesty, I did not see the gassing. I turned it off right after the speech and during the speech, I saw protesters in Lafayette Square. I did not see any gas.

Later, when I read about Trump walking to the church, I switched it back and saw him going toward the church and that’s when I saw the clouds of tear gas.

Overall, my conscience is clear. After days of violence right in front of the White House, they can’t take any chances on the president being injured or attacked. I will agree, if it is found to be true, that they should have ordered them to move prior to the use of tear gas.

But it isn’t even as serious as 1968 when cops beat people half to death with batons and flashlights.

[I don’t know.

If so, why were they told to move from a public park?

Would you have wanted Tea Party protesters to move off of The Mall just because Obama said to? ]

If you’ve been there the entire day, and you are getting in the way of the president, who has to be protected from assassins? It’s always good to put your thinking cap on and break away from the party line peddled by the media. Note that I don’t watch *any* news network or even follow the news apart from snippets. These demonstrators are doing their thing right next to where the sitting president lives. They can demonstrate to make their point, but not forever.

And in the past several days, the protestors had rioted and looted. Just what was the Secret Service supposed to do - wait for the President to be shot before dispersing the crowd? The media’s just annoyed that Trump’s not in the emergency room, either mortally-wounded or nursing a near-fatal bullet wound.

What’s funny about my defense of Trump is that I wasn’t even particularly much of a fan at the beginning. But who I really hate, with the heat of a thousand suns, are the people who are attacking him, not because I have any particular love of Trump, but because of what they’re trying to do to us - in this case, aid and abet rioters and looters who are destroying the livelihoods of tens of thousands of small business owners and their employees, many of whom are Trump voters. Trump-haters don’t hate Trump for who he is, a dissolute libertine full of braggadocio just like many of them - they hate us, and they are attacking Trump for engaging in the thankless task of trying to defend us.

That’s why I support Trump. Because there are more rewarding things he could be doing, from a personal standpoint, that would not alienate a huge chunk of the glitterati he used to associate with. He has been cast out of those circles precisely because he defends deplorables and right-wingers, unlike Arnold, Romney, McCain and any number of RINOs. He could have gone all squishy so he could have a quiet life like those RINOs, and go back to hobnobbing with the glitterati. But he hasn’t. He has kept the faith with us. And that is why I overlook all of his other foibles. Someone I thought would stab us in the back as soon as he took office has been far more staunch a supporter of our priorities than any president in the last century other than Reagan.

I understand this perspective and realize it engenders a lot of loyalty but I see politics differently.

I try not to put too much trust in any politician and I assume their willingness to fight for me lasts exactly as long as it's in their self interest.

That's why I have this anachronistic attachment to principle and the rule of law.

I also realize that hypocrisy is the default setting for all politicians and most commentators but I had to comment on Trump making a speech supporting peaceful protest while at the same instant using federal law enforcement to physically remove peaceful protesters from public spaces.

I am loyal to Trump for as long as he fights for us. The moment he doesn’t, that’s done.

It isn’t even anachronistic - it’s never existed among the vast majority of people in practice, although plenty of people have paid it lip service. The idea that virtue is its own reward is literally true - the people who subscribe to it are probably extinct. Principled conservatives in a sea of bloodthirsty Democrats are in the position of pacifist Jews in the middle of Germany’s WWII empire - they can hold fast to their principles and be killed like sheep, or they can stand up and fight.

The Park Service has quite clearly stated:

The protesters were asked to move. Three times.

The protesters (at least some) responded with violence.

Now, I would agree that if the Park Service does not have video evidence of the above, they were rather ill prepared, naïve, or both.

Well, I have sent him three notes suggesting he deploy federal troops to enforce the laws that mayors and governors have failed to do.

Wanna stop this crap? Send thousands of rifle toting soldiers in combat gear to LA in hundreds of Humvees. Anyone holding a brick would have his face smashed with the butt of a rifle.

It's been said recently that The minute the President sends federal troops to stop the chaos, he then owns and will be blamed for the chaos.   He will not fall for that and will only send in the troops when the Governors and/or Mayors beg and admit their Democrat failure.

This was making me think about something, so I checked.

Here is a snippet from an article in 2010, when the democrats marched to the house to pass Obamacare:

“As police held demonstrators back to clear areas for lawmakers outside the Capitol Obama’s speech, some protesters jeered and chanted at the officers, “You work for us.”

(I believe that “Obama’s” speech” was “to speak”, but I’m not sure).

So, in 2010, the democrats broke up a protest and used police to push back protesters to make room for them to do a symbolic march to their own building (which I believe has an underground passage from their office). Pelosi carrying not a bible, but her GAVEL:

“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led her caucus across the street with a gavel in one hand and the other on the arm of Rep. John Lewis of Georgia, who had been harassed by protesters on Saturday. :
