Journalists across the industry voiced support for Fox News' Leland Vittert on Saturday after the reporter and his crew were chased and harassed during a protest near the White House on Friday night.
Vittert, who has reported from hotspots including Cairo, Libya and the West Bank, called the incident the scariest situation he's been in since getting chased out of Tahrir Square by a "mob" during the 2011 Arab Spring uprising in Egypt.
One of Vittert's two security staffers was punched in the face and knocked to the ground as the team hurriedly exited the park on Friday night.
This was the scariest situation Ive been in since I got chased out of Tahrir Square by a mob, and this was equally scary, said Vittert.
Video captured by the Daily Caller and others of Vittert and his colleagues quickly went viral on social media, prompting other members of the media to voice their support for the TV crew.

Is there any doubt that the jerks “protesting” are being herded by the same anarchists who rioted in Portland in the 90’s, rioted at the Democrat Convention in LA, who staged the phony “Occupy” movement, and who now masquerade as “Antifa?”
Leland Twitter needs to be chased by sombody..
I don’t care for Vittert but I don’t like what happened to him. The streets are full of feral savages that need to be shot on sight. I hope him and his crew are all right though because I saw his reporting last night and he was in the thick of it.....
NOPE
Last night I noticed one Fox reporter (can’t remember who) had the Fox logo taken off his microphone. I thought it was a great idea since he was in the belly of the beast trying to interview those oh-so-gentle rioters. I detest Leland but am sorry this happened to him. He was scared sh**ess.
Can’t say I didn’t enjoy seeing Vitter hounded by his own left wing compatriots. Karma.
I was surprised that the secret service allowed the protesters/rioters to maintain their proximity for such an extended time.
Meanwhile, where is the the high-tech riot control equipment? Maybe they are saving that for us? Or maybe they are just afraid to use them?
In my former job, exposed (not literally) to the development of all kinds of “non-lethal” technology including:
1) radio wave emitters that burn the skin and force you to take cover
2) acoustic devices that are unbearably loud and/or unsettling, and will make you sick
3) coordinated clusters of land-roving and air drones that use AI. Programmed to attack rioters by sensing threatening positions and actions
4) etc ....
Have no sympathy for Paul Ryan’s weekend soy-boi.
They are not going to use any of that equipment unless the protesters penetrate the secure area in numbers that the Secret Service personnel physically could not handle with standard control techniques.
They cause it with their prior attacks on FOX and then say it’s unacceptable.
“Last night I noticed one Fox reporter (cant remember who) had the Fox logo taken off his microphone.”
It was Mike Tobin. I noticed that, too.
They weren’t hounded, they were attacked. Words mean things.
the guy reporting from the CNN building was pretty scared
he would never make it in a war zone
Yes, microwave them.
“2) acoustic devices that are unbearably loud and/or unsettling, and will make you sick”.
They call it “Rap”.
I'm pleased to report that this test incursion from George Soros failed even in the pussified Blue States still under COVID lock-down orders. His thugs were plainly visible with their black clothing, back-packs and staying on their cellphones. Damn sure the cops saw that, too, but they didn't remove these instigators from the scenes.
Ban back packs just like they do at major league stadiums. Start on the fringes of the crowds taking each backpack after getting a picture of the person with it. If the backpack contains anything related to weapons like rocks or incendiary devices, arrest the person. If not, tell the person to pick up his backpack the next day at police headquarters.
The people near the edges of the crowds are the least likely to be rioters and will probably yield. The word will get around. The police can work their way toward the real rioters near the broken windows.
Cripes sake; police were ordered to run away from their own police station rather than defend it, to see it burned down. How can a community have any faith or trust in their law enforcement after the cops having their balls cut off like that?
