Before the ink was dry on the treaty that ended World War 1, planning began for the Second World War. That is not far from the truth. The 1920s and '30s saw Japan, Germany, and Italy seeking to expand their military forces, including in the case of Japan and Germany, in violation of treaties.
Japan transitioned from a nascent democracy to a brutal military dictatorship, while Hitler began laying the groundwork for his rise to power. Mussolini of Italy had plans to establish a sort of second Roman Empire and sent his army to Ethiopia to begin it.
The history of that era, the 1920s and '30s, is a convoluted interplay of events that seemed almost orchestrated to lead to war. Large wars do not begin spontaneously. Long before the first shot is fired, years of preparation have taken place.
Today, the prelude to the next major war is underway. While the events are different, the parallels are striking.
China's dictator, Xi Jinping, has over-extended himself. Squandering his nation's wealth on weapons, and on ideological policies, his communist system has created an unsustainable economy. The communist bureaucrats and the Chinese army must be fed and supplied. Their need for lebensraum is increasing and will prove insatiable.
As the United States begins to counter the Chinese strategic moves, Xi finds himself pressured into what for him personally will be a no-win situation. On the one side, he is faced with the United States, which now belatedly recognizes that China is an implacable enemy. On the other side, inside China, the parasitic officialdom and the career military officers will not accept retreat. They can't. Their lives depend on fending off the wrath of their exploited people.

The nuclear bomb that destroyed Hiroshima in 1945 killed 80,000 people in one moment. The Chinese virus has killed 100,000 Americans. If China had killed that many Americans with a nuclear bomb, what would we do? In effect, China has nuked us.
In every single store, in America.
Everything which was actually made.
Was made in China.
(I know, that is a slight over-simplification)
Slight.
We’ve already seen the first attack (biological) and it has reportedly tallied 100,000 deaths in America alone.
+100!!
See post #2 above.
Total BS.
Total BS.
I’ll throw this out as well: One way the US can drastically reduce its debt to china is to monetize the debt (Make the money more worthless). But there is a downside: China would be really pissed off and retaliate.
But they now have blood on their hands and can’t argue. So what are we doing? Well, when you print trillions of dollars and hand them out like free breath mints, you are devaluating your currency and...wait for it...monetizing your debt.
We are in a cold war with China. Let’s hope it stays cold.
Tell that to the people of Hong Kong.
If events lead to a US - China direct conflict, America is at a significant disadvantage. The US has a tech advantage, China has a numbers advantage, and a civilian population that isn’t overwhelmed by snowflakes.
In a prolonged conflict, nearly half of the American population would be screaming for surrender. And more than half of the elected officials would be sabotaging American efforts.
The world has seen the US military do some impressive things in the past few decades — but I think during this time our military has always been shackled. We want to win hearts and minds. We want to nation build. To a large extent to have not used out military for its true purpose — kill people and break things.
If China pushes us, President Trump will actually use the military. It will be damn impressive. And I bet India would help.
The article vaguely implies that Russia might support China. I say not a chance. If China makes a move, the US, India and Russia will all stand against China. It will be a short war and no one will care what the UN thinks about it.
China my friend owns Hong Kong. Im referring to China going to war with the US. They aren’t that stupid.
On top of that, "numbers" (as in army size) is no longer a military advantage.
China news is not on MSNBC or CNN. Notice that Hong Kong and other anti China news does not get any weight, maybe a mention. China already controls our news. So if China is getting ready for war, don’t expect us to fire a shot. Half our population will not even know anything about it.
China has a numbers problem. If you are talking about cannon fodder they got it. If you are talking about the level of troop quality we have they are not even in the ballpark and they have numbers but don’t have the delivery system to get them near us.
If you are talking about a naval war don’t blink or you will miss it.
President Trump is lining up allies, both domestic and foreign, to secure commitments in the struggle against China.
**************
What allies? Good luck with that. Our foreign “partners” don’t even want to pay their fair share to support existing alliances so why do we think they will step up to support us against China?
This article is exactly on point. History has shown that when a country allocates huge amounts of resources to building up its military it usually ends up going to war or if it doesn’t in the case of the post 1945 Soviet Union, it collapses. As Eisenhower noted every dollar spent on the military generates no further productive capital. If capital is devoted and ultimately squandered on non productive military assets, the economy becomes strained, there is less production. diminished wealth and popular discontent.
China grew in strength when it limited socialism and allowed its huge labor force and intellectual assets to become productive. Its major flaw is that the Communist Party hierarchy has controlled the allocation of capital. Despite the economic growth much has been squandered on bizarre projects such as “ghost” cities, a hugely expanded military and the support of the party infrastructure and security apparatus. Sins are overlooked as long as the economy continue to expands and more wealth is generated.
However this COVID-19 pandemic has stalled the Chinese economy and its world markets. Historically war becomes more likely in such circumstances.
A tepid response will convince China that at best we lack resolve. At worst, that we are weak. The only thing adversaries respect is strength, which comes in many forms. We had best start demonstrating our fortitude lest the Chine misread us and make dangerous miscalculations.
Its already game on but not sure we’re ready to play.
Well China started the next war with unleashing this weapon of war called the Wuhan red virus of death as a biological weapon.
Although China will proceed cautiously in their centuries-long plan to conquer the West, they cannot let this opportunity pass as they have the tacit support -- to a point, of course -- of the Democrat/Left Party and of the Democrat/Left media brought on not by the virus but by the much more "progressive" psychosis of TDS.
