CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez and his camera crew have been arrested live on air while reporting on the ongoing protests in Minneapolis.
Footage quickly emerged online, and many of Jimenezs colleagues took to twitter in outcry over the incident (see below).
CNN has confirmed the incident, adding that a producer and camera operator were also arrested.

Reason for arrest?
I dislike CNN, but arresting reporters for no apparent reason is bad.
Freedom of the press applies to all.
Probably stagged- directed by the Democrats.
You can call it protest all you want CNN but everyone in the country knows it’s a riot. you just make yourselves look like pathetic jackasses and liars.
Heroes, probably will be caught by a bicyclist.
They are NOT the “Press.” They are Leftist agitators and propagandists. They should be hanging from lamp posts.
Saw it happen live. On camera live arrest. No reason given. After arrest the police said they were asked to move but did not. Actually as it was going down, the black reported asked them where they wanted him and his crew to move to and they would immediately comply. However the State police surrounded them and arrested the entire crew (white); the camera man left the camera on and as of a few minutes ago is still on live.
This is not the usual procedure, Off camera a chief of police said the person in charge of the State police unit had lost control of his men and would be in deep doodo. You do not arrest a reporter live on camera who is complying with an order while reporting on a situation standing in an area he was told to stand in by other police.
I agree with you. I think one of the reasons theres so much pent up anger coming out in these riots has nothing to do with race. Its not just because its being exploited and whipped up by Antifa, but because even many ordinary citizens have a lot of resentment against heavy handed police enforcement of their local authorities lockdown rules.
The cops are responding by getting more and more authoritarian and violent themselves (remember the takedown of the lone kayaker in CA?). I think that in this case they had told the camera crew to move and the crew was doing so, with the reporter simply asking where the cops wanted them to move to. But I guess it wasnt fast enough for the cops.
Sorry, even though its CNN that got arrested, its nothing to cheer about.
Unacceptable
‘Probably stagged...’
yeah, he must have had that ‘deer in the headlights’ look...
CNN just reported that Zucker talked to MN Guv, and he apologized for the arrest, and Guv said it was “unacceptable” what happened.
I detest CNN, but this is straight up police state tactics.
I detest CNN, but this is straight up police state tactics.
So MN State popo did it?
MN has some serious popo problems!
But, in a D’rat-run state and big city, it’s not surprising that their cops adopted the same untouchable attitude as the politicians.
Police state or state police. Is there a difference?
Actually, its good that it was CNN because they are unimpeachably leftist and PC, so the Governor would certainly support them. And now that he has made this statement, it will certainly serve to protect other less favored press groups as well.
We really cant let these CCP tactics get established and accepted.
So they arrest a reporter and camera crew but the looters and rioters get a free pass.
CNN: “Minnesota Governor accepts full responsibility.” Governor: Arrest was “unacceptable.”
ATF physically assaulted the crew who videoed the Waco Koresh raid.
footage is in the sequel to rules of engagement
