Americans are vigorously debating the merits of continuing to lock down the U.S. economy to prevent the spread of COVID-19. A single statistic may hold the key to resolving this debate: the astounding share of deaths occurring in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Nursing homes and assisted living facilities: The #1 COVID problem
2.1 million Americans, representing 0.62% of the U.S. population, reside in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. (Nursing homes are residences for seniors needing help with activities of daily living, such as taking a shower or getting dressed, who also require 24/7 medical supervision; assisted living facilities are designed for seniors who need help with activities of daily living, but dont require full-time on-site medical supervision.)
According to an analysis that Gregg Girvan and I conducted for the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity, as of May 22, in the 39 states that currently report such figures, an astounding 43% of all COVID-19 deaths have taken place in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
(Among states reporting their death totals, 42% of COVID deaths have taken place in long-term care facilities; we estimate the share as 43% for the full U.S. population, based on incorporating the demographics of the non-reporting states.)

Cuomo’s culture of death isn’t limited to the unborn. It’s the old and frail that also are targeted by the ghoul.
How antichristian of him.
What was the percentage of total deaths associated with nursing homes before the release of the Chinese Coughing Pandemic? More? Less? Is this more deadly than just being old and sickly in the first place? Or is this like the statistic from Dilbert that 40% of sick days are taken on Monday or Friday which outraged the boss?
and NJ too
at what point is it called murder?
these are statistics that are muddled into the whole.
meanwhile:
Less than 0.5% of the U. S. population has gotten covid-19 - in total.
Then you can intersect that with the point of this article — namely that covid-19 cases are coming from a very selective segment of the population.
Is Geriaticide a word?
oh, this just came up:
May 14, 2020
Gary Cantrell, Deputy Inspector General
Office of Investigations
US Department of Health and Human Services
330 Independence Avenue, SW
Washington, DC 20201
Dear Deputy Inspector General Cantrell,
I respectfully request that the HHS Office of Investigations immediately commences an independent
investigation into whether the Pennsylvania Department of Healths Interim Guidance for Nursing Facilities during
COVID-19 (March 18, 2020) has contributed to an increase in COVID-19 infections and deaths in Pennsylvania
nursing homes, assisted living and elder care . The urgency of this request cannot be understated as Pennsylvania has
made clear that the Interim Guidance will remain in place even as other states repeal or revise similar policies in
response to the inordinate number of deaths in these facilities. Instead of fairly and impartially assessing the impact of
this Guidance on the high number of deaths, the Governor Wolf announced a criminal investigation into the facilities
themselves. His breathtaking failure to protect the most vulnerable population in Pennsylvania warrants an
independent investigation. I implore you to begin such an investigation immediately

If you are old enough to be retired, maybe you should consider staying away from the workplace.
If you are too young to retire, maybe you should consider going to work.
If you know you are sick in some way, maybe you should consider wearing a mask so that you don’t spread your germs.
If you don’t feel sick, maybe you should consider not using a mask — rebreathing your own CO2 isn’t a good idea.
Quarantining the sick can be smart.
Quarantining the healthy is tyranny.
All of this is just common sense.
Among states reporting their death totals, 42% of COVID deaths have taken place in long-term care facilities!
While Cuomo and his fellow blue state granny killers/governors were killing grandmas and grandpas in nursing homes, their left wing mediots were killing our capitalism with their lies about how deadly this virus was for everyone in America.
So, they shut down America and are now killing innocent Americans, who can’t get necessary medical care due to the panic shutdowns in hospitals.
If any worker is sick with a fever, they should stay at home and not go to work or anyplace public until they are well.

Japan Ends Coronavirus Emergency With 850 Deaths and No Lockdown
Stop it with the commonsense stuff. We can’t have any of that around here. Geez, the next thing you’ll be doing is asking people to think instead of feel. It’s a slippery slope you are on.
From the Fearpers ongoing gripes, I would say we have a lot of them in nursing homes.
What % actually died from pneumonia or regular flu?
These are statistics that are muddled into the whole.
After, we have learned a lot of how data has been tweaked, skewed or worse to promote the fear of Corona~19.
We found out that for decades, the so called data of regular flu and pneumonia cases and deaths have been tweaked, $kewed, ignored and worse.
So then, you have national policies based on tweaked and $kewed data for decades, and blended with the Corona~19 b$ for the past 5-6 months.
Along with this tweaking/$kewing, we have apparently cured pneumonia with basically no pneumonia deaths and lowered the heart attack rates as no one is going to hospital with pneumonia or a heart attack. Strokes, according to the data have disappeared or eliminated.
No knees/hips needed replaced since March.
It is amazing how Corona~19 is been curing all of these old diseases and bad orthopedic problems.
It’s surprising that the sanctity of life is so important to many conservatives when it comes to abortion, while treating old or sick people as expendable is fine with them. Can’t have it both ways. The quality of life in assisted living facilities can be pretty good. In nursing homes I admit it is dreary. But it is not for others to decide whose life is worth saving.
A young paralyzed woman who was in the nursing home here died last night from the virus. Where did she get it since she hadn’t been out of the facility? From an employee, another resident or visitors?
The cases still keep ticking up.
