In the end, it is the face mask that is the clearest symbol of America’s divide

The mask is essentially useless: The mask is not an adequate defense against the COVID-19 virus... The virus checks in at somewhere between 0.06 and 0.14 microns, meaning it’s too small for any commercially available mask to effectively filter it out. The pores on an N95 mask, which are the best masks you’re reasonably going to find, and the vast, vast majority of you are not going to have N95 masks but rather cloth masks, which perform far less well, are 0.3 microns

...

Staten Island a mob of “karens” forced a woman from a store for not wearing a mask and they were not at all polite about it; they were vicious. This is all the end result of the wholly unnecessary lockdown of the American economy which was based on fallacious “science” from the outset. It is the distillation of the cultural divide. We are a nation split between the fearful, those easily frightened by anything they read in the mainstream media, and the not-by-nature fearful who are justifiably suspicious of the nonsense spewed forth by the mainstream media

. ..

a carefully-constructed hoax, a treasonous attempt to overthrow a duly elected President in order to cover up their many crimes .

...

Heroes of the left, Drs. Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx have been wrong, wrong, wrong. Long ago the great Thomas Sowell wrote that “It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.”

The lockdown was never needed. The hospitals were never overrun, the mortality rate has been a fraction of what the “scientists” predicted. The “data” has all been corrupted.

...

two types of people .. “karens” and “sharons.”

One thing I’m frequently reminded of is Japan. What do they do, almost religiously? Masks, even when there is no virus going around.

The Japanese wearing masks is also undoubtedly the reason that their obesity rate is only 4.3%, compared to 36.2% in the US. They must eat less than the people in the US because their faces are covered by masks. Their culture makes mask-wearing the standard. Their obesity levels are low. There's only one conclusion you can draw.

Or maybe wearing masks may not be the one factor correlating to how a country is affected by the virus.

Instead of the masks being the factor reducing the impact in Japan, it could be that the hormonal imbalances caused in a population with fatty livers are reducing immunity in the countries being harder hit.

I wore one for the first time yesterday (here in one of the bluest counties of one of the bluest states)—I had to take my daughter to an orthopedic doc and we both had to wear one.

Really hard to breathe! I bought the thinnest, most breathable cotton one I could find. I hated it. And it made it hard to communicate with the doctor (with no facial expressions). I noticed the doctor and staff didn’t wear one except for the one receptionist.

How does Arizona “determine” when a death is based on C-19, and not a pre-existing ailment? Any state for that matter?

merely as a decorative excuse to explore the “karen” meme. It is tiresome. Hopefully, it will blow over soon.

.......................................

My conservative sister Karen, is hoping the same thing. She is compelled to wear one as a condition of employment as an R.N.

Dr. Russell Blaylock warns that not only do face masks fail to protect the healthy from getting sick, but they also create serious health risks to the wearer. The bottom line is that if you are not sick, you should not wear a face mask. .

I am not a great fan or booster of the masks, particularly the herd mentality that has sheeple wearing them at useless and meaningless times, just to satisfy rules that are unable to put anything into context.

However, as to:

“The virus checks in at somewhere between 0.06 and 0.14 microns, meaning it’s too small for any commercially available mask to effectively filter it out.”

The authors assumptions are wrong, because they focus on the wrong facts.

1. It is not the size of the virus that matters, because the virus does not exit the body, in a cough, sneeze or the breath in a form where it is all by itself, just floating in the air.

2. The virus when it is expelled by the respiratory system in any manner is one of a number of things that can be part of a “droplet”. Droplets from all respiratory sources by all means of being expelled can range from 0.01 and 1000 microns, but the median size is from .7 to 1 micron.

3. While a virus no bigger than between .06 microns and .14 microns may be contained with a droplet that is between .7 microns and 1 micron, it does not then fly out of the droplet on its own. If the mask stops the droplet, the mask blocks any virus in the droplet. N95 masks are efficient against 95% of droplets between .3 microns and larger. Surgical masks are not terribly less efficient but do permit more incoming airflow around the boundaries of the mask, compared to the more closely fitting N95 type. While nothing is perfect, and some small portion of droplets may be larger than .3 microns, masks also have to allow for sufficient air to breath.

4. As to home made fabric masks, their makeup is so diverse in composition there is no telling how efficient they are.

The Japanese have almost no minorities

ThE bulk of our obesity population is black women and some Hispanics

Obesity amongst whites and most Asians ...the latter being such an imprecise term....is much much lower....tends to be socio economic driven....the more poor the fatter ..which is counter intuitive I kniw

Poor women have less pressure to look good

You sound like a troll to me.

Trying to browbeat people into behaving the way you want them to Behave. OK Karen...
