The Japanese wearing masks is also undoubtedly the reason that their obesity rate is only 4.3%, compared to 36.2% in the US. They must eat less than the people in the US because their faces are covered by masks. Their culture makes mask-wearing the standard. Their obesity levels are low. There's only one conclusion you can draw.
Or maybe wearing masks may not be the one factor correlating to how a country is affected by the virus.
Instead of the masks being the factor reducing the impact in Japan, it could be that the hormonal imbalances caused in a population with fatty livers are reducing immunity in the countries being harder hit.
The Japanese have almost no minorities
ThE bulk of our obesity population is black women and some Hispanics
Obesity amongst whites and most Asians ...the latter being such an imprecise term....is much much lower....tends to be socio economic driven....the more poor the fatter ..which is counter intuitive I kniw
Poor women have less pressure to look good
Instead of the masks being the factor reducing the impact in Japan, it could be that the hormonal imbalances caused in a population with fatty livers are reducing immunity in the countries being harder hit.

But that makes too much sense.
