Refers to an article by Hal Brands, Steven A. Cook, and Kenneth M. Pollack.
Trumps break with decades of U.S. strategy in the Persian Gulf has been conducted in his typically cavalier manner. But it did not come out of nowhere. Americans have been debating their long-standing strategic commitment to the Gulf for several years now. Critics of that commitment have offered multiple arguments for why Washington ought to pull back from the region. Each is founded in realities that should refine U.S. strategy toward the Gulf, but not abandon it, as Trump appears to be doing.

because "success" is not a word that I'd use to describe US Middle East policy.
If your're interested in what our Trump-hating ruling elite considers successful foreign policy, FP's Twitter post refers to article at https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/12/15/carter-doctrine-rip-donald-trump-mideast-oil-big-think/ .
FYI, Foreign Policy magazine is a project of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
US Middle East “policy” has been an abject failure and cost the US way too many lives. Except for Israel.
So successful that the area has been embroiled in constant warfare for four decades...yeah, thats sure what Id call success.
Yeah, four decades of abject failure. Good to up-end that!
First, we have no dependence on Saudi oil (or for that matter, any oil producer).
Second, we don’t need to be playing games with thug mullahs from Iran.
Third, we’ve chosen to use stringent economic weapons as a threat-tool. They seem to work very well.
Fourth, a lot of the ‘fake’ big-boys of the Middle East have fallen into severe economic times and their power to survive this time is called into question.
This article starts with a pure lie.
Four decades of using our military as cannon fodder and MPs in foreign shit holes.
Now that we are energy independent, thanks to Trump, the mid-east sand dwellers can eat goat shit.
We no longer can be bullied by them withholding their oil, they can drink it.
After 19 years of a no victory policy in sand dweller country, we are coming home.
Like Trump said, "If we have to come back we will, BUT, in a vicious way".
Hal Brands, Steven A. Cook, and Kenneth M. Pollack are all members of the CFR making this nothing more than a position paper for the advancement of globalism.
Must be Opposite Day.
I dont think that word success means what you think it means
Successful????
I laughed when I read the headline
These people are nuts

This TURD has DEEP STATE splattered all over him!
If your definition of “success” is unending wars they, yes, I guess it has been successful.
Successful?!
Paging Inigo Montoya...
It’s not even the Babylon Bee.
Successful??
The only successful foreign policy achieved by the United States was to keep Russia out of the Middle East. That was ended by Obama.
Having these incompetent dopes weigh in on U.S. foreign policy is like having arsonists in charge of firefighting operations.
Obviously the view of the military industrial swamp.
