President Trump is facing intense backlash for celebrating the recent layoffs that took place at the liberal magazine The Atlantic.
Last week, The Atlantic became the latest of several news outlets that have cut its staff amid the coronavirus pandemic, detailing in a memo to staff that 68 of their colleagues were let go, resulting in a cut of roughly 17 percent of all of the magazine's employees.
Roughly 40 million Americans have lost their jobs since the beginning of the pandemic. On Tuesday night, Trump touted the layoffs from the magazine whose coverage has been largely critical of the president.

Trump’s tweet was slammed by critics, many of whom were journalists.
This is a lie. None of the clowns at Vox, et al, are journalists, theyre propagandists.
Nope. Im not General Kelly.
President Trumps tweets play to his base. Thats his choice. Im not questioning his right to tweet or even the point of this particular tweet (loss of fake news The Atlantic would not disappoint me). What I posted was my opinion that his tone is needlessly turning off some undecided voters, and you didnt address that at all.
I hope this election isnt close, but if it is, Trumps tone could be a deciding factor. Im sure hed tell me hes president and Im not or some such, but why risk offending any voters who might be needed to re-elect him?
With all due respect, I think people knew who he was when they voted for him before.
He’s always been on Twitter, saying things that push the envelope.
I was never interested in the Atlantic. Just didn’t seem interesting to me.
But as an overall leftist rag, hope they go out of business entirely.

VIDEO: 26 May: Fox News: Texas Lt. Gov. Patrick bashes Twitter, Dems over mail-in voting: ‘If they get it, it’s the end of democracy’
by Victor Garcia
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick admonished Democrats for pushing mail-in voting Tuesday, telling “The Ingraham Angle” Tuesday that such measures would be “the end of democracy” if they were ever enacted...
“Twitter owes the president an apology,” Patrick said. “They fact-checked him, Laura, for his opinion. And by the way, his opinion was based on fact, because the Democrats are trying to steal this election.
“I just tweeted out that the Democrat plan to have everyone vote by mail is an invitation for fraud and it’s a total scam,” Patrick told Ingraham. “And tonight, I would like all of your millions of viewers to tweet their own tweet out about how mail-in ballots are a scam by the Democrats.”

22 May: TexasScorecard: Texas AG Launches Mail-Ballot Voter Fraud Probe in Harris County
Amid Democrat lawsuits to expand vote-by-mail, a local citizens complaint leads to an investigation of possible illegal mail-ballot harvesting in a Democrat primary.
By Erin Anderson
State officials are launching an investigation into alleged voter fraud after receiving a citizen complaint about mail-ballot harvesting in Harris County.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxtons office notified local resident Colleen Vera earlier this week that they are taking action on her election complaint, which was filed with the Texas Secretary of States office in April.
Paxtons probe comes as his office is fighting two lawsuits filed by the Texas Democrat Party using the coronavirus as an excuse to allow everyone to vote by mail.
Veras complaint documents that people with prior forgery convictions picked up large batches of ballot by mail applications for local campaigns and a number of voted ballots were marked identically, said SOS Director of Elections Keith Ingram when he referred the matter to OAG earlier this month.
A video first made public by watchdog group Direct Action Texas, showing what appeared to be illegal mail-ballot harvesting in Harris Countys 2018 Democrat primary, prompted Veras research.
The video shows a woman identifying herself as a campaign worker for State Rep. Harold Dutton (DHouston) and telling an elderly voter how to fill out her ballot, adding weve done over 400 already....
Vera, a retired school teacher, spent two years reviewing thousands of public documents, including mail-ballot applications, carrier envelopes, and eventually the ballots themselves (state law made her wait 22 months to see those)

Alinsky #8 - Hit them again, harder!
I hope he knows what hes doing.
I know its anecdotal, but I have extended family who definitely voted for Trump. I was shocked to hear them glowingly speak of Obama as compared to Trump who they said was mean and angry. I tried to explain Trump is angry for a reason, that the press asks gotcha questions that imply hes a racist, sexist, whatever. Regardless, they were thinking of voting for Biden.
Trump needs to understand there are still millions of well meaning voters out there who tune in to the network nightly news. They dont go searching the internet for alternate, conservative opinions. If NBC, CBS, and ABC news are their primary news sources, is it any wonder why they are rethinking their Trump support?
I get that Trump is going to be attacked regardless of what he tweets, but in cases like The Atlantic, they can quote the tweet and it comes across as very mean when hes supposed to be concerned about unemployment.
Im not the only Trump supporter who sees his tweets as a negative. Maybe we are wrong. I hope we are.
Facing intense backlash from who? Most people don’t even know there was a The Atlantic. The Titanic maybe.
People did know what they were getting. Correction: many people found out Trump was even better than expected. I also agree hes not going to change. I just know there are voters in the middle who will hopefully compare mean Trump to the creeper on the left and make the right decision. It should be an easy choice, but I know firsthand that some people find Trumps tweets to be very off-putting.
What’s your point there? As if I didn’t know. But let’s hear you say it out loud.
CC
All this means is that the Atlantic commentators will not be voting for him from the unemployment line rather than not voting for him while being employed. Same sh*t, different day.Too bad.
I challenge FOX to name JUST one positive Trump article in the Atlantic.
Trump won’t lose ONE SINGLE VOTE because of this. NO ONE, I mean NO ONE, associated with the Atlantic would support Trump.
This is called WINNING.
MO GREEN(Levine) and Hyman(Roth) just got Corle-OWNED!
Trump’s way of saying ‘karma is a mofo’. GG.
Intense Backlash = Mika, Joe, Madcow, Lemon, Pelosi and Schmucky Schumer throwing Hissy-Fits?
As a political figure there are certain fights you want to pick. This is one of them.
More truth, not less against the Dem Media Complex.
They are not letting up, helloooooo.
He’s winning the fight. They are more exposed than ever.
So which writers got the ax?
Backlash from who? Muckraking needs to stop. Very few real reporters today. Tucker Carlson and Chanel Rion are two who report facts. The others are all selling something.
