Central Park this morning: This woman’s dog is tearing through the plantings in the Ramble.
ME: Ma’am, dogs in the Ramble have to be on the leash at all times. The sign is right there.
HER: The dog runs are closed. He needs his exercise.
ME: All you have to do is take him to the other side of the drive, outside the Ramble, and you can let him run off leash all you want.
HER: It’s too dangerous.
ME: Look, if you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it.
HER: What’s that?
ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!
HER: He won’t come to you.
ME: We’ll see about that...
I pull out the dog treats I carry for just for such intransigence. I didn’t even get a chance to toss any treats to the pooch before Karen scrambled to grab the dog.
HER: DON’T YOU TOUCH MY DOG!!!!!
That’s when I started video recording with my iPhone, and when her inner Karen fully emerged and took a dark turn...

Honestly if I had a stranger trying to lure my dog over with a treat he just happened to have I'd be a tad upset with that person. Of course my dog was always on a leash but still, I'm not a trusting enough soul to let a stranger try to lure my dog over and pick it up. If that makes me a Karen, so be it.
ME: Look, if youre going to do what you want, Im going to do what I want, but youre not going to like it.
HER: Whats that?
ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!
HER: He wont come to you.
ME: Well see about that...
Your post changes everything. He was trying to kidnap her dog. I hope she sues him.
ME: Look, if youre going to do what you want, Im going to do what I want, but youre not going to like it.
HER: Whats that?
ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!
That is a F’N THREAT. He could have grabbed the dog and stabbed it or slammed it.
Been there with a Dyke threatening mine, similar but hostile language.
He intended to escalate the situation. A F’N opportunist holding the race card.

I can see where the woman would see that as a threat, either to the dog, herself or both. At that point she should have attempted to leave rather than call the cops, but that’s just me. A woman alone with this guy in a remote area could reasonably feel different.
“ME: Look, if youre going to do what you want, Im going to do what I want, but youre not going to like it.
HER: Whats that?
ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!”
The conversation seems reasonable until this part. If I’m in that women’s place, and the guy is calling my dog after saying I won’t like what he’s about to do, in my view he is about to hurt my dog. That is a threat.
LOL! Twenty-five years ago, that would be an SNL skit destined to become a classic!
