(CNN)New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office deflected questions about a report from The Associated Press that the state sent more than 4,500 patients recovering from coronavirus to nursing homes by saying they followed guidance from federal agencies.
"I just want to reiterate once again that the policy that the Department of Health put out was in line directly with the March 13 directive put out by (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) that read, and I quote, 'Nursing homes should admit any individuals from hospitals where Covid is present,'" said Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa on Saturday during a briefing. "Not could, should ... that is President (Donald) Trump's CMS and CDC.
"There are over a dozen states that did the exact same thing, many of whom were concerned about hospital capacity. ... Obviously any death is an unfortunate death," DeRosa said, listing the totals from other states amongst New York's. "It's been a national and international tragedy that everybody has had to grapple with and it is something that we're trying to learn from every day and move forward."

The CDC issued guidance to Nursing homes to prepare a separate ward and separate personnel for COVID. But said they should only accept patients with COVID if they could follow the guidelines.

New York: Nursing homes MUST admit people who currently have the virus AND they are NOT ALLOWED to even test them.

A nursing home can accept a resident diagnosed with COVID-19 and still under Transmission Based Precautions for COVID-19 as long as the facility can follow CDC guidance for Transmission-Based Precautions. If a nursing home cannot, it must wait until these precautions are discontinued. “
FYI "wait until these procedures are discontinued" means wait until the person is no longer contagious.

It is NOT just Cuomo that has done this EVERY Dem governor has done this, I am in CA. in my county 85% of fatalities were from nursing homes our health department put out a regulation stating the exact same thing patients with CV19 were to be returned to their nursing homes!! I firmly believe they did this to INCREASE the numbers, they HAD TO HAVE the numbers to cover for the HOAX hoisted upon us to destroy the economy!! These bastards don’t care the end justifies the means!! MILLIONS of lives destroyed BUT their goal is completed!! I believe Trump knows now he knows he was duped!!
That’s not the same thing as saying that nursing homes should admit COVID-2 victims imo.
And did Cuomo bother to call referenced federal health agencies for clarification of their policies?
Common sense would make me think twice before ordering COVID-2 victims, recovering or infected, into nursing homes with high risk residents.
I suspect that “Orange Man Bad” Cuomo gladly deliberately misinterpreted agency policies.

Cuomo had Javits Center and the Navy Hospital ship fully staffed and ready and only a few Covid patients were sent to these two facilities.
