Dr. Deborah Birx said that it was “difficult to tell” whether a second coronavirus wave in the Fall could cause another national lockdown.
Birx’s Sunday morning interview on ABC’s “This Week” came after President Donald Trump insisted on Thursday that he will not “close” the country if, as Dr. Anthony Fauci expects, cases spike again later this year.

“I think we’re trying to learn right now very carefully about how you reopen safely,” Birx responded when asked by ABC’s Martha Raddatz if that was the “right approach.”
“You know we act like we’ve actually done this before and besides 1918-1919 we’ve not ever closed parts of America and even then the whole country wasn’t closed,” she continued. “We’re trying to understand during this period of coming out of a closure, how do we maintain openness and safety?”
Birx insisted they were “preparing” for a “potential Fall issue” by stockpiling ventilators and PPE and “ensuring that we’re really pushing on therapeutics and vaccine development so we can be ready if the virus does come back in a significant way.”

The president said two days ago, even if there is a second wave of infections, the country is NOT going to close down again. We don’t need to get Snake-bit twice by the same deceptions.

This is the woman who said that for two weeks no one should go out at all. Order groceries in. Nobody was delivering at the time at least where I live and we are all not rich and privileged.

That’s all well and good as far as it goes, but if getting a vaccine out to the public were job number 1 then so doing would make all the other actions, measures and costs (trillions in stimuli) moot and unnecessary. Could try to focus on that, DC peeps.

He said about a week ago that closures/reopenings were up to the governors. I haven’t seen anything saying he has changed that statement.
And further....and the only difference between opening this week, next week or next month is the date. This two week cycle (NYS) is ONLY for the purpose of creating stats.....nothing more.

It was from the start. The lockdown only happened because of the election. Never forget Deborah wanted to shut down the grocery stores and got Trump call Kemp to stop him from opening.
She actually gave the right answer because she has no say. Shutdowns, lockdowns and other restrictions are placed by governors.
They are removed by citizens.
The doctors, experts, scientists, scientific models, the ‘science’ itself were and are wrong. Many, many errors were made and many, many people died. All of us are now suffering because of the devastation to our general health, to our economy, to our nation and to our freedom caused by these egotistical, elite ‘experts’ and their bad science

I was fed up from the beginning. It was an obvious scare campaign with ridiculous predictions fed every minute to the cowering masses and yes, the masses are asses. I’m still unsure whether or not we’ll survive the year of being stupid.
