Trump slams Sessions: 'You had no courage & ruined many lives'

President Trump lashed out at former Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Twitter Saturday evening, accusing the GOP Alabama Senate candidate of 'ruining lives' when he decided to recuse himself from the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Russia probe.

The tweet from Trump slamming Sessions is the latest installment in a back-and-forth between the two over Memorial Day Weekend.

“Jeff, you had your chance & you blew it. Recused yourself ON DAY ONE (you never told me of a problem), and ran for the hills. You had no courage, & ruined many lives,” Trump shared, retweeting Sessions’s earlier rebuke.

“The dirty cops, & others, got caught by better & stronger people than you. Hopefully this slime will pay a big price. You should drop out of the race & pray that super liberal @DougJones, a weak & pathetic puppet for Crazy Nancy Pelosi & Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, gets beaten badly. He voted for impeachment based on “ZERO”. Disgraced Alabama. Coach @TTuberville will be a GREAT Senator!” Trump continued.

“Sessions tried to fire him if memory serves, and Trump hired him back.”

You must have smoked something that fried your memory.

Of course I do

When you call someone a criminal for 18 months and gin up your base, you have an obligation to do something about the criminal. Then way to do that is in the AG appointment.

He had a republican senate. Is it your supposition then the state would’ve block Guliani who dod bang dup job as a US attorney and mayor LA or other suitable candidate? Would the senate have handed the popular new REPUBLICAN president a major defat early in the administration?

You have to use your power and do what needs to be done.

Now we have Limbaugh (Can’t charge an ex-president with a coup attempt because then all presidents vulnerable to all charges.) and the AG (I don’t think this matter will go much higher.) saying you can’t lock up an ex-president even if they ran a coup to subvert the sitting president and overturn the results of an election. How many presidents run a coup on their successor?)

If you can’t do it for that, what can you do it for?

Trump isn’t trying to “get revenge” here. Sessions is running in the GOP primary to get his old seat back, and Trump doesn’t want the guy anywhere near Washington again.

Somebody gets it. D.C. is full of people like Sessions. Don't need more of the same.

“I know Alabama. Tuberville doesn’t.”

I think Tommy beat the Tide seven of ten when he was at Auburn. Sessions is wrong there.

Why didn’t he just TALK ABOUT RECUSAL with Trump first?

Trump’s nomination. Trump’s problem. He failed and because he can’t take responsibility is blaming Sessions.

Trump took responsibility for the Sessions nomination. He called Sessions his "biggest mistake".

Sessions continues not to take responsibility for his recusal.

Sessions was a coward, still is.

Yes, Sessions recused because he was afraid of the Deep State. It's really just that simple.

Trump's description of Sessions is correct.

It is all very easy for every one of us to criticize Sessions. We just don't know what they were holding over him. In hindsight, he should have just resigned.

I believe that Sessions was also afraid to resign.

The Deep State wanted Sessions in place as a recused AG.

Sessions did recuse and didn't resign.

As posters have already written McConnell said flat-out he would not have time to confirm another AG, The State would absolutely have embarrassed POTUS if they had the opportunity,

Trump should have flexed. Instead, he let the worst political criminal in US history remain free and she’s still free. Calling her a criminal was regular part of his campaign.

Too many Americans -- mainly leftists and big-government types -- see the U.S. Department of Justice as a "fourth branch" of government designed to operate independently of the other three. Nothing could be further from the truth. Not only does such a "fourth branch" have no place in government under the U.S. Constitution, but the DOJ didn't even exist until 1870. Up until that point the U.S. Attorney General and the various U.S. Attorneys were organized under the U.S. Treasury Department, and their purpose was to represent the U.S. government in what were primarily CIVIL matters, not CRIMINAL matters.

The whole thing went off the rails when the DOJ became a criminal prosecution enterprise, prosecuting offenses that never should have been Federal crimes in the first place.

Wow. Good post AC.
