Of course I do
When you call someone a criminal for 18 months and gin up your base, you have an obligation to do something about the criminal. Then way to do that is in the AG appointment.
He had a republican senate. Is it your supposition then the state would’ve block Guliani who dod bang dup job as a US attorney and mayor LA or other suitable candidate? Would the senate have handed the popular new REPUBLICAN president a major defat early in the administration?
You have to use your power and do what needs to be done.
Now we have Limbaugh (Can’t charge an ex-president with a coup attempt because then all presidents vulnerable to all charges.) and the AG (I don’t think this matter will go much higher.) saying you can’t lock up an ex-president even if they ran a coup to subvert the sitting president and overturn the results of an election. How many presidents run a coup on their successor?)
If you can’t do it for that, what can you do it for?
The SENATE would have blocked.
As posters have already written McConnell said flat-out he would not have time to confirm another AG, The State would absolutely have embarrassed POTUS if they had the opportunity,
