For the second time since the COVID-19 pandemic became a daily battle between disease control and civil liberties, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has taken to Twitter to criticize the peaceful assembly of Jews in a city that boasts over a million Jewish residents.
This time, de Blasio specifically targeted children meeting at a yeshiva, an Orthodox Jewish elementary or secondary school.
Just a few weeks ago, the mayor slammed his citys Jewish community for gathering to grieve at a large funeral for a beloved rabbi.
Writing for The Daily Signal, I said de Blasios behavior was un-American and unconstitutional. His tweet Monday is not much different, and unfortunate on several fronts.
For starters, New York City was undoubtedly the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic and two boroughs with a significant Jewish population, Brooklyn and Queens, were the hardest hit by the disease.

Orthodox tend rightward and vote it. Brooklyn and Queens Orthodox communities put Giuliani in Gracy Mansion twice. Upper East Side, Washington Heights, Staten Island is another matter. I used to live in Far Rockaway back when Chucky Schumer was our Representative. Despised the local rabbinate kissing up to him. Despised him. Despised many of the local rabbinate, too.
The funny thing is, they recognize "all of these problems," but on any given item, they implicitly think that more Democratic government is the solution, rather than the ultimate cause.
Whatever, they voted for him.

At this point, what difference does it make. He fiddles while his city burns. Anti-Semitic or racist is just diarrhea frosting on a fart cake. Green diarrhea, brown diarrhea...whatever. He is in breach of the social contract.
