Mike Pompeo blames Bob Menendez over IG firing controversy
NY Post ^ | May 20, 2020

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says he didn’t retaliate against Steve Linick when he asked President Trump to fire him as State Department inspector general — and that New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez is to blame for stoking controversy about the move.

Pompeo accused Menendez, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, during a Wednesday press conference at the State Department.

“This is all coming through the office of Senator Menendez,” Pompeo said. “I don’t get my ethics guidance from a man who was criminally prosecuted — case number 15-155, New Jersey federal district court. A man for whom his Senate colleagues, bipartisan said basically that he was taking bribes. That’s not someone who I look to for ethics guidance.”

Take his side?

They long ago did. In fact, he got off, Scot-free, because he’s a democrat, and they need the bodies in the Senate.

They could care less about the kids, let alone any victims.

“Screw them kids! There’s a party to support.”

‘Donkies uber alles.”

Menendez is a pervert, a paedophile, and was a pimp for his pal Melgen with proven Medicare billing fraud in 105 million dollar plus range. Melgen, a “physician” an opthamologist who booked in multiple outpatient clinics— cataract surgery performed by non-surgeons (and not by him) but billed to Medicare for surgical fees.

Menendez tried to protect this criminal (now in the Fed Pen 17 years sentence)— in exchange for Melgen’s private digs in the Dominican Republic with 9, 10 and 12 year old girls he raped.

There is NO, zero way that repubs on the Foreign Relations committee will support Menendez (for the obvious reason that should the Dems gain the Senate, this pervo would become chairman. But especially because they know he takes bribes, common knowledge and rapes little girls when he could get to the D.R. Last photo of note— was at the DNC leadership meeting in Puerto Rico— the next dem money laundry gambit being run their by their appointee, the forme r Finance Minister of the Ukraine as Debt Commissioner).

Understood, but, Republicans have a reputation of being timid in face of Democratic threats. They must stand their ground.

You're a real tough guy with impecable judgement. So go for it, tell a cop that's writing you a parking ticket that he's a corrupt SOB and see how it goes. Or maybe that's too much even for a guy who buys his balls by the bushel, so how about just saying it to your boss.

You'll make them realize just how wrong they are and they'll apologize and forget all about it I'm sure. Boy you sure showed them.

My point stands. The President can call Senators and the press out all he wants, and he does. Because being President makes him personally a co-equal branch of government and he can give Senators the finger all he wants. It's often been preferred to have the VP do it because it lets him keep his hands clean but that's not Trump.

SecState, on the other hand can call out the media and should. If he wants he can also pick fights with Senators who have oversight authority and can call on him and his staff to testify before them but he's making his life complicated if he does. But hey, what's one more never ending bullshit Senate investigation, right?

I think Pompeo was right to stand his ground. Forcefully in fact. I just think he probably went too far by making it personal and saying Menendez - who was not convicted, mind you - is a criminal (he is a criminal and should have been convicted but still, he wasn’t). Seems like he let emotions get to him on that one.

Those were terrible times. Bush was a rodent. Democrats like him better than his own voters do now.

Senators pretend in public to fight but behind closed doors they consider themselves a very exclusive club and all members - both parties - are their pals. They spar politically but it's not personal, mostly just for the cameras frankly. I do not trust the Senate, ever. Nothing about what we see in public is what goes on in private.

Other Senators (even the Rs) will probably be unhappy to have one of their own roasted like that.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Some just on us v them, others because they may have something to hide.

Still waiting for the Congressional ‘sex slush fund’ that was going to be aired months ago...

Must have heavy hitters on both sides of the aisle involved.

It is a comparatively ‘small group’ but they will circle the wagons when an ‘outsider’ comes after one of them.

He fooled a lot of us for about 2 years. He was like having a stealth demo crap as president. No wonder they loved him.

Menendez was appointed by Jon Corzine in 2005 to replace Corzine, and he won on his own in 2006 and 2012, and 2018.
