Wearing masks and social distancing is ‘new norm’ in N.J., Murphy says

Even as New Jersey gradually reopens, residents will be asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing until there’s a vaccine or effective treatment for the coronavirus, Gov. Phil Murphy stressed Tuesday.

“This is the reality,” Murphy said during his daily coronavirus briefing in Trenton. “We’re not mandating you wear a mask, but we are strongly encouraging you to do that, and staying apart from people. I think that’s the new norm.”

Murphy has started scaling back his near-lockdown orders in recent days as signs continue to show the COVID-19 outbreak in New Jersey is slowing and the economy continues to suffer. He has allowed state and county parks to reopen with social-distancing restrictions, permitted nonessential retail businesses to offer curbside pickup, and said beaches, boardwalks, and lakes can be open this summer with guidelines.

Under the governor’s orders, face coverings are required to enter stores and eateries that are open. They are recommended in outdoor areas.

On Monday, Murphy outlined a broader multi-stage reopening plan and said the state is currently in Stage 1. He didn’t provide hard dates for when stages 2 (additional activities allowed, with restrictions) and 3 (most activities allowed, with restrictions) will happen. But he said Stage 2 could happen within weeks if the downward coronavirus trends continue.

Through all of it, Murphy said, residents should wear face masks, practice social distancing, wash hands thoroughly, disinfect workspaces, and limit gatherings. No mass gatherings will be allowed.

I will wear a mask because it's the only way to be allowed entrance into stores and I have a need to eat on occasion. I don't believe it'll keep me well or protect anyone else around me especially since there's nothing wrong with me. Outdoors, I won't wear one; Murphy can suggest all he wants.
As far as socialist distancing, hey; it's New Jersey. I wouldn't want to be near anybody under any circumstance.

It seems the challenge would be to find enterprising ways to introduce alcohol into the breathing process and mask employment, which would serve to sterilize the mask with each breath/sip combo.

(We can perhaps refer to the result of this mask breathing/swigging process as being in a state of "ine-breathiation".)

Correct on both points.

Masks also hold a high concentration of virus on them, as opposed to your breath dissipating into the air and particles falling to the ground where a virus quickly dies, so when you inadvertently touch your mask your hand now has a serious load on it as opposed to touching your unmasked face.

“...we need these corrupt governors to distance from Marxism...”

Amen on that, but I think even Democrats like to be able to walk around so I like the chances of some of these Governors being ex-Governors after the election.

I bet armed robberies are going to go up a lot.

That's my bet too. There is likely going to be a spike in Bank, convenience store, liquor store, marijuana dispensary and gas station robberies.

Masks have been illegal in NYC since 1845. I think some politicians are going to rediscover why that happened.

I think by about the middle of July.

Noting that the current season's flu vaccine is about 50% effective, and last season's was 25% effective, I think it's going to be a long wait for a 100% effective coronavirus vaccine.

(They may already have an effective treatment or three.)

They’d do what Stalin did too if they could get away with it and if the citizenry were not well armed. This crisis makes you appreciate the second amendment even more.

AMEN. Tyranny like this is exactly why we have the Second Amendment.

Unfortunately Murph isn’t up for re-election until 2021. Rest assured that most of the dopes in NJ will vote for him again. I won’t, but it doesn’t matter.

Masking could make facial recognition and government tracking of the Revolution more difficult.

“Neurosurgeon Says Face Masks Pose Serious Risk to Healthy People”

“...Now that we have established that there is no scientific evidence necessitating the wearing of a face mask for prevention, are there dangers to wearing a face mask, especially for long periods? Several studies have indeed found significant problems with wearing such a mask. This can vary from headaches, to increased airway resistance, carbon dioxide accumulation, to hypoxia, all the way to serious life-threatening complications...”

Outside of a hospital or doctor’s office, wearing them either makes men emasculated or look like they are trying to relive their middle school glory days by trying to look tough in one of the ridiculous “scary” ones.
