There’s a lot of nice, low-priced furniture and knick-knackis at Hobby Lobby. They may have more farmhouse- looking stuff than other continent-looking stuff than Pier 1, but some sort of exotic looking pieces can be still found.

World Market has some similar type stuff to Pier 1. It’s always an adventure going to different Homegoods to see what is there.

Pier 1 does have better dining tables than any of these places, though.

Have not been in one of those stores...in 40-45 years.

I had never heard of Pier 1 until about 25 years ago, then they sprouted all over. Some interesting stuff in the stores, but almost all of it made overseas.

My wife loves (loved) Pier 1. This will make her sad (but I remember hearing they were on thin ice before the pandemic).

The last time I visited a Pier 1, I thought I was at a flea market or a yard sale.

I think more people went in there to look around, than to actually buy anything. Because once you see the price tags on their junk, you just walk out.

They actually used to be part of Tandy, Radio Shack’s parent company. Which explains why they were headquartered in Ft. Worth.

Bought some wicker stuff from Pier 1 maybe 30 years ago. It was well made and lasted for many years before I finally threw it out. Haven’t been in a Pier 1 since, though - no reason to. Don’t know how they lasted as long as they did.
