President Trump told governors on a conference call Monday that he "will step in" if the federal government disagrees with state reopening plans, as he largely expressed satisfaction with how the governors are moving to lift coronavirus restrictions in their individual states, according to a report.
Trump, whose administration last month revealed guidelines for when states should begin lifting stay-at-home orders and other social distancing measures meant to slow the spread of the virus, has vocally pushed for the rapid reopening of the economy. The president said in an interview with Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo last week that his critics want the economy to remain shuttered until the November election, calling Democrats' reluctance to lift the coronavirus measures "a political thing."
"The governors are making their decisions, and want to make their decisions, and that's the way I want it to, and we will step in if we see something going wrong, or if we disagree, and some people say that's nice, and some people say I shouldn't be doing that, but we're going to do it if we see something wrong," Trump said to the governors Monday, according to audio of the call obtained by CBS.

As I see it, the only recourse the Executive Branch of the U.S. government has is to have the DOJ support Federal lawsuits by individuals and business establishments against state governments over violations of constitutional rights.

If Trump is including Barr’s DOJ in “we” he’s counting on the wrong people.
Letting these dem governors keep their states in lockdown, if they so choose, would work in the president’s favour. Many on the left are seeing what dems will do to destroy the president, even if it means destroying their livelihoods in the process. No better exposure of dem state vs repub state as this. I say let them put their states in ruin.....don’t save them from whom they put in power.
No delegated power for this, just as there was no delegated power for the feds insisting on any shut down in the first place.
The lust for Arbitrary government that has been in place since F-ingDR cast aside the Constitution for a fistful of programs and regulations is a cancer that has metastasized. It will kill the nation.
No bailouts for illegals.
This is just a signal to the states to not overshoot everyone else by too much so they don’t an too much of an advantage over other states in the region for things like tourism.
He said the same thing about shutting things down but not every state did and rightfully so. Just simple precautions. Sometimes Trump does play politics. The funny thing is he does it better than most politicians.
In hindsight no state needed to lockdown; just focus on the hotspots like elder care centers and those with other health issues. Everyone else should have just kept truckin’.
If Walmart, gas station employees, health care workers, and so many other could be ‘labeled’ essential then everyone was essential. Wear masks or whatever but don’t stop.
Trump was played as were the rest of us. This virus isn’t even contagious when someone who has it is asymptomatic. Yep; we were played/scammed/cheated. Who does that? Yep; the dems hand in hand (no gloves) with the Chinese did that. The payback for that should be as severe as it gets.
There is a bit of wisdom involved here in giving Tommie the Commie just enough rope with which to hang himself.
I’m in Eastern PA and the literal clowns and fascists in Wolf’s administration are despicable. From what I have been reading and seeing in this state people are completely fed up...and getting restless.

But, and here’s the run, we need to deal with the poison pill that is Frothingham v. Mellon that subverted the long held right of citizens to pursue a private prosecution of a public right (I.e, sue the government when it exceeds its delegated powers).

Judy I think he will be looked at in a positive light for doing this. I also think he has some plans up his sleeve.
