HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) Governor Ned Lamont has announced on Monday that he is delaying the reopening of hair salons and barbershops.
Salons and barbershops were originally due to reopen on Wednesday, May 20, during phase one of the states reopen plan amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Both Governor Lamont and Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo now intend to reopen hair salons and barbershops in their respective states in early June.

"Early June"... what specifically does THAT mean?? Watch: The goalposts will be moved yet again in "early June". We probably won't see the reopening of hair and nail salons, barber shops, bars and most businesses until *maybe* sometime in freakin' August!
Even Fuhrer Whitmer in Michigan is announcing she is allowing the reopening of BARS and restaurants in her state. Here in CT, restaurants (NO bars) will only be 'allowed' to reopen at a super-reduced capacity, and *outdoors only* on Wednesday, May 20th. Which will kill off many if not most restaurants in CT.
I *hate* this state!!
Cuomo still has the capital of the state of NY closed, tens of thousands of state workers still on paid vacation. Where does he get the money for all these no show payments?
Yup. Plus Cuomo has a LOT of blood on his hands. At least 5,000 COVID-19 nursing home deaths, last time I checked.
Just checking in... Is Charlie Baker reopening hair and nail salons, barber shops, restaurants, etc. yet? If so, we will make a run for the border. Thanks.
My fascist GOP TN governor tried this last week. And he extended it 30 days.
He caught holy hell and pulled back. Actually reversed his “order” completely the next day.
Then he “allowed” restaurants to open for dine in but at 50% capacity and NO bars.
He reversed that Friday and it’s back to full business starting Wed.
Thanks for the ping.
My wife keeps looking at the gardening shears and then at me—I wonder what she has in mind. ;-)
This isnt science. Those places practice hygeine already, nobody is spreading this at a nail salon.
People are going to start looking awful shaggy there.
Whitmer poised to announce partial reopening plans for northern Michigan
Anyone know when/if there will be another pro-reopen CT rally in Hartford??
‘I *hate* this state!!’
come to Pennsylvania; you’ll hate it more...at least you don’t have a deluded freak issuing your health mandates...
Nope...just check my local barber’s website...no reopening date set.But you can hop a flight from Bradley down to Georgia or Florida. IIRC New Hampshire has just opened...or is about to open...and Nashua is 30 minutes from me.
Yup. Although hubby and I are most likely going to go on a long road trip to the Free States of GA (where we do own property) and SC soon.
We've just about reached our limit of this CRAP. There are plenty of hair salons, etc. open in The Free States.
Has she recently taken out a life insurance policy on you?
Wow, that's great! Congrats to the good people of Tennessee.
The difference between TN and CT is that the people here are stupid, scared leftist SHEEP. Whenever any democRAT governor says 'jump', they say 'How high??' and obey.
And most working people in CT are state employees and/or union types. So they're NOT suffering in the least. Most in CT are probably totally fine with CT being locked down forever. GRR!!
Funny you posted that drone pic... Our idiot governor WAS testing drones to spy on CT residents who are not supposedly social distancing. Not sure if he’s still doing it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was.
LOL!
I'm SO disgusted with this state. Hubby and I are thinking of taking a long road trip to GA and SC very soon. Need to continue house hunting there ASAP.
There are *plenty* of hair and nail salons and barber shops (and many other businesses) open right now in The Free States of Georgia and South Carolina.
If youre not ready to open your business then dont but dont force everyone else to stay closed. It is a two way street, there are customers willing to patronize salons and barbers.
And why is it always a last minute decision? Money is tight for small businesses these days, dont lead them on this way after theyve invested time and money and then tell them they cant re-open.
That is awful nutmeg.
