I have an expensive dust mask that has a valve that lets all the stuff I exhale out freely but keeps the outside particles out. I can wear it for hours, but within five minutes of wearing one of those cloth masks, I’m gasping for air.
Unless I am absolutely required to wear a mask, I don’t. If I wore my dust mask everyone would feel safe because it looks so effective, but it only protects me from them.

Wearing a mask to stop a virus is like putting up a chain link fence to stop mosquitoes.
Your mask is useless and you might as well concede defeat. This is a really smart virus. It knows to stay away from Costco, Walmart, Target, big corporate grocery stores, phamacies, hardware stores, gas stations and some other “essential’ enterprises. It knows “non-essential” businesses are fair game. A virus this smart will find a way around the edges of your mask if not waltz right on through your mask even if a N95er.
Easy to find an expert who says just the opposite. That’s why mask wearing should never have been mandated.

Just wanted to make sure that we are all on the same page re: masks and savers people saying they are useless.
First, prior to COVID-19, when I traveled to one of our client sites which is a hospital, I saw RNs, etc wearing masks. I asked one why she was wearing a mask and she said because she did not get the flu shot. If you don’t get the shot at that hospital, you are required to wear a mask.
Second, if going through chemo, and let’s talk about leukemia, suggestions are made for the patient to wear a mask.

So are we all on the same page, that first, masks are useless to wear for health care professionals who don’t get the flu shot?
Second, are we all on the same page that masks are useless to wear for cancer patients at various stages of their treatment (e.g. going through chemo), etc?

What about hands? Hands touching the face are the biggest vector. Hands touching a virus-laden mask on your face are a super-vector. Wearing gloves makes no difference. Gloves might even hold more virus-laden moisture.
