The White House official in charge of coordinating the administrations efforts to corral medical equipment in the fight against the coronavirus on Sunday blasted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for dropping the ball on early testing.
Early on in this virus, the CDC, which really had the most trusted brand around the world in this space, really let the country down with the testing because not only did they keep the testing within the bureaucracy, they had a bad test. And that did set us back, Peter Navarro, the coordinator for the Defense Production Act, said Sunday on NBC News Meet the Press.
The CDC in early February sent testing kits to the states that were contaminated during production at the agencys lab in Atlanta a problem that led to faulty results and delayed the process for weeks.

CDC is a petty bureaucratic empire populated by career loafers and left wing political sycophants.
Trump needs to clean house at CDC. Sooner the better.
Like Rod Rosensteins sister.
Indeed, wouldn't it be better to have a Center for Disease Prevention and Eradication?
The very name of the bureaucracy belies its supposed intent.
If "Dr." Fauci's goal is the eradication of covid-19 before the lockdown end, the lockdown can never end. In order to "control" something, you must perpetuate it. And that's exactly what "Dr." Fauci wants.
Not shutting off travel from Europe earlier and not quarantining New York City in March were bigger mistakes.
how were we supposed to test them? There were no accurate tests then!
Even if there were, the test would be no good. It’s called “The Rare Disease Problem.”
Imagine 1% of the population has the disease, and the test is 99% accurate.
3.3 million have the disease; ~3.3 million of them will test positive; 33000 false negatives.
330 million don’t have it; ~327 million will test negative; 3.3 million false positives.
The probability that the patient has the disease given that there is a positive test = 50%.
i was never good at math- mental block when it comes to it i guess- now my brain hurts- thanks alot lol :)
CDC had one job and they sucked at it. They are worthless.
They were too busy trying to outlaw the vaping industry.
Theyre like any bureaucracy, afraid of in any innovation that threatens their control.
How much difference would it have made if local medical research centers could have come up with their own tests, even providing them to others, back in late January?
Unfortunately, well never know.
I posted several weeks ago - see how the CDC is spending its time/money/resources. Go to their web site and search for Climate Change, Diversity, and Transgender. Youll get 1000s of hits. These are not acceptable pursuits for a CDC. They represent the hijacking of the organization for political purposes. Which helps explain why they have fallen down so badly when a problem that is squarely in their arena has appeared.
The CDC has always been in the catchup game, never in the first to detect and stop game.
It’s federal workers, hired into job slots, and rife with all that ‘guvmint job’ means.
China bought them all up.
Wapo did a really good, lengthy article on this about... 5? Weeks ago. One guy at the CDC, big primadonna, decided to add a new third test to the traditional 2 tests used for that type of virus. Other countries already developed the 2-test diagnostic, and even offered to give them to us. Free. Nope, primadonna had to invent his own monument to himself. And his 3rd test had contaminated reagent, got sent out to all the labs. Fail city.
The labs knew immediately, said, why not just do the 2 rests and forget doing the newbie test? But the CDC refused to let them skip the 3rd. For 3 weeks we had no reliable data.
So the labs made their own tests, worked fine, but the FDA said nope, can’t use them, sorry. Because the labs were not certified as a drug or medical device manufacturer. For real. Delayed another 2+ weeks.
Cluster Fook city. CDC, FDA , blew it. Right at the start, when we had no data. Flying blind. So they went with Italy as an example, for real, and Ferguson’s model, and shut down the whole country.
One guy caused it. One guy, at the CDC. Wapo even named him. I’ll try to find it tomorrow.
