MILFORD, PIKE COUNTY (WOLF) — The Pike County Sheriff's Office announcing it will not be enforcing, if asked to do so, any order that violates the U.S. Constitution or the Pennsylvania Constitution.
"I'm proud about what the sheriff's office is doing, I think it's a fine line, he's not going to enforce anything that's unconstitutional, which is all we ever want," said Eve Yasthal, Milford resident.
Businesses that decide to reopen under the Red Phase will not have to worry about facing any citations from the Pike County Sheriff's Office.
In a statement Sheriff Kerry Welsh said "Just to be clear, this stance is strictly the stance of the Pike County Sheriff's Office and is no way meant to represent the views of any other law enforcement agency in Pike County."
“It always makes me wonder how somebody elected to public office who is supposed to enforce the law is out there saying I’m going to break it," said Governor Tom Wolf (D).
“I mean, I’m kind of on their side because I know what they mean, I guess every scenario is different with each town and each county," said Sheri Frances, owner of Golden Gifts Jewelry.
Frances' store is one of many businesses temporarily shutdown.
"By staying shut consistently, it's going to make the country fall apart," said Frances.
"I think Wolf is really going overboard," said Yesthal.
Yesthal stopped by a protest in Milford this morning.
"The fine line is whether or not what Wolf did is unconstitutional," said Yesthal.

Sheriff Welsh also said as an elected official, he will continue to uphold his oath of office and duties that were given to him by Pike County voters.

I used to fly into Cherry Ridge airport in the middle of the night, park the plane, jump in a beater I kept on site, and make the 5 miles to my place on the lake.
