With all the attention focused Tuesday on Republican Mike Garcias smashing win in the special U.S. House election in Californias 25th District (Los Angeles), it was not surprising that the national press pretty much overlooked the big Republican win for state senate in the Golden States 28th District (Riverside).
With nearly all votes counted, conservative State Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez rolled up 56 per cent of the vote over Democrat and Riverside County Board of Education member Elizabeth Romero.
The special election was called to fill out the remainder of the term of Republican State Sen. Jeff Stone, who resigned earlier this year to become regional director of the U.S. Department of Labor. Melendez's winning percentage was four percentage points above that of Stone in his last trip to the polls.
Assemblywoman Melendez was and is a superstar public servant, California State GOP Chairman Jim Brulte told Newsmax, She will serve her constituents well.
A U.S. Navy veteran who earned her college degree nights from Chaminade University of Honolulu, Melendez flew on covert missions in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm and became fluent in Russian.

I don’t think so. Maybe LA and SF will be last, but CA is starting to get it.
Thanks
Thanks
So what did the Navy fly for that mission? E-2Cs? P-3s?
Gonna be hard to gin-up the votes and extra-extra voters if the students are not clustered on campus.
“Nice story but California is hopeless”.
Now that is the attitude the dimwits encourage. Things are difficult but we can see both in California and the Nation that the dimwits are committing political suicide. It will take time and effort but the ‘sheeple’ are waking up. Either accept commonsense or continued stupidity.
She is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute (DLI) and fluent in Russian.
She flew as a Cryptologic Technician Interpretive (CTI) and linguist aboard some special aircraft.
She is wicked smart.
My friend Michael did that in VietNam.

+++++
You get an A+ for that comment. Im embarrassed that it didnt occur to me earlier.
Excellent!
Fluent in Russian. That immediately qualifies her for accusations of collusion by the proggs.
Its another indication that voters are trending away from the democrats. No we should all follow Allendale's lead, give up and cower in the corner while they beat us to death.
We need one and only one to primary Linda. Has anyone announced?
She’s been on KFI’s John & Ken show several times. Smart lady, good conservative. Good for her.

I have no ideal, I was out of the land based guys in 1967.
Hopefully someone will let you know.
The one factor that may be tipping the scales is the fear factor. People are witnessing just how crazy democrats can be when they have power.
Nice to win by a bigger margin and let’s hope that is a sign but she replaced another Republican.
JoMa
UCSB is and always has been a solid 20,000 votes in the election of district supervisors. In the past decade, CalPoly SLO has into that same trap.
In it is hard to beat a 20,000 vote head start. /#sad
Correct. That is exactly what she was and it was a hard job too. Listening to most Russian radio traffic is worse than any bad Hinglish radio station ever thought about being.
A large quantity of Russian military words are transliterations of English words into Russian and they sound horrific.
We are always so crystal clear in most of our radio traffic that we have to use crypto. Theirs is so bad even their own people can’t catch it sometimes.
