EXCLUSIVE A California-based biopharmaceutical company claims to have discovered an antibody that could shield the human body from the coronavirus and flush it out of a persons system within four days, Fox News has exclusively learned.
Later Friday, Sorrento Therapeutics will announce their discovery of the STI-1499 antibody, which the San Diego company said can provide "100% inhibition" of COVID-19, adding that a treatment could be available months before a vaccine hits the market.
"We want to emphasize there is a cure. There is a solution that works 100 percent," Dr. Henry Ji, founder and CEO of Sorrento Therapeutics, told Fox News. "If we have the neutralizing antibody in your body, you don't need the social distancing. You can open up a society without fear."
The health care and pharmaceutical industries have been scrambling to develop viable vaccines and antibody treatments as the number of COVID-19-related deaths is expected to hit 100,000 by June 1.
Many medical researchers are scrambling to find antibodies, optimistic that they could provide a remedy or preventative care in less time than it would take to develop a vaccine. Antibody treatments have been used for the past 100 years as a means to stave off infections, but their effectiveness has had mixed results. Finding a successful antibody or convalescent plasma treatment for COVID-19 could present challenges.
"Doctors are taking blood plasma from patients who have recovered from COVID-19 and infusing it into those who are critically ill. The plasma is laden with antibodies, and the approach shows some promise," former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb wrote in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed. "The constraint: There isnt enough plasma from recovered patients to go around."

Great!
Breakthrough here, breakthrough there.
Seems I am seeing a headline every day about some company or research center on the verge of a breakthrough about some aspect of COVID-19.
Funny how they are never on the verge of a breakthrough on something that would help with the diabetes or lung diseases that are a huge comorbidity when it comes to COVID-19.
We wouldn’t want to come up with a better and cheaper way to treat these other diseases, would we?
It would get in the way of profits to be made on the “cures” and tests for COVID-19. Can’t have that.
Burr and Feinstein get out stock purchase orders!!
Will a vaccine work for every individual? Or will it be like the ones we have now and their efficacy rates. I don’t get a yearly flu shot. Someone asked on a post last night if ones health care provider will penalize those that don’t get the shots. Sort of like folks who smoke and are penalized because actuarial tables indicate they are at higher risk for health issues.
The stock is already up 60%
SRNE is the symbol.
It’s a pump and dump strategy.
Their stock just went up 87%
Time to short it. I had 1000 shares. Out with a profit. If Acosta and the rest of the media can lie, so can I.
Phew, so if the vaccine was expected in 12 months or so, we only have to keep the economy shutdown until next February or March - that's great news.
PE and 522 and debt to capital ratio 79%. Not a good idea to buy. lolol. It’s too funny watching all of this.
HCQ once per week acts as vaccine <$1/pill and we can do it now.
“Some medical experts believe that while antibody research shows promise, there are concerns for how long the effects may last in fighting the virus in an infected patient.”
“”As soon as it is infused, that patient is now immune to the disease,” Dr. Brunswick said to Fox News. “For the length of time, the antibody is in that system. So, if we were approved [by the FDA] today, everyone who gets that antibody can go back to work and have no fear of catching COVID-19.”
Yep, that is the question. It would seem that the best approach would be to give the antibodies to someone already infected, since their immune system will have already started developing its own antibodies. The artificial antibodies can be given to keep the patient from developing more severe symptoms. As a result, it’s possible that once the injected antibodies wear off, the immune system will have developed enough of its own antibodies to get rid of the virus on its own.
It’s a little penny stock that’s price almost doubled with this news. I’m skeptical.
RE: Why am I skeptical?
Would you have been skeptical if a scientist of German ancestry were part of the Manhattan Project?
Dr. Henry Ji, founder
Would you prefer a Dr Henry James?

Hearing about all of these “breakthroughs” every other day is like hearing that the prosecutions of Comey and Mrs. Bill Clinton will start any day now.
Wrong approach yields poor performance. The pharma method is to find a toxic hammer to hit a disease nail.
But often there are multiple causes or the issue is the machine balance not a faulty cog.
I truly believe 90% of sickness is lifestyle and nutrition related. You treat lifestyle choices best with responsibility not an expensive pill.
I also believe poisons are poor subst9for food. If taking a ten times dose of a cure can harm you, its poisonous. And most likely patiented.
Therein. Lies the problem.
Diabetes that is not genetic is almost always found in children who do not eat there vegetables when they refuse to grow up. Most eat all brown food and 100 times the daily dose of sugar.
In Israel it is not called type two diabetes, it is called infectious diabetes. Think on that one a bit and you will see clearly why we do not have a cure for diabetes in America.
Wrong hammer.
