This story is getting better and better — for those who enjoy David vs. Goliath contests where Goliath gets a faceful of cow manure from David.
That’s what Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer must be feeling like today. The 77-year old barber, Karl Manke, who is defying her executive orders to keep his business closed is beset on all sides by the state. He was taken to court by the state who asked a judge to order Manke to close his doors. The judge refused. Then, Whitmer sicced the Department of Health on him. He refused to comply.
Finally, after the close of business on Tuesday, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs made good on Whitmer’s threats.
Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has suspended Karls license, attorney David Kallman told radio host Steve Gruber.
Not thinking about it, theyve actually done it without a hearing, without any due process, he added, saying the action took place some time after 5:00 p.m.
Its an unbelievable abuse of power, Kallman said, arguing theres no legal basis for the action.
This is pure retribution by the governors office and by the AG. This is so petty and vindictive, its beyond the pale, he told Gruber.
Isn’t it kind of unconstitutional to take this action without even going through the motions of “due process, governor “?
What’s the matter with you? Don’t you know we’re in a CRISIS? We don’t need no stinkin’ constitution to enforce my orders.

Same BS going on in Maine with the restaurant owner - seriously, this crap has got to stop and I believe Trump said if the states were out of line he would step in, he should step in now.
When do the people FIRE Guv Witless?
This is the USA if the Marxists win control in November. It must never happen!
Since he’s 77, hopefully he’s wise enough to simply promote himself as an “undocumented barber”.
I read the Kansas rules about returning to Kansas after traveling out of state. They are suggestions, recommendations. Im pretty sure no one will try to enforce them when we go visit our son in Colorado.
It should be a fun day in Michigan today with the protest and all.
I’m sure he has a long list of satisfied and long term customers, even if he has to move his barber chair to a corner of his garage.
She won in 2018 53/43. Supported legalizing pot. MI is a big union, welfare, single mommie, college student, retiree state.
If she could jail the old guy, she would. If she could get away with having cops shoot the old guy...would she?
The 43% are very pissed. There WILL be a formal recall effort. But, her social distancing dictate blocks collecting signatures...ain’t THAT convenient?!
Sounds like it would be a good idea for that gentleman to leave MI. I’d be willing to bet that he’d be welcomed anywhere he chose to go. Certainly OK would love to have him.
[S]hitmer needs to be gone. If she’s not careful, one of the (armed) protest rallies may “go live”. Of course no one wants such a thing to happen; I’m just saying that it looks less unlikely by the day. Don’t all of you get a sense that something — not sure what, but SOMETHING — is coming?
Sic semper tyrannis. Death to Tyrants. The tree of liberty is way overdue for watering.
Why does a barber need a license?
She's a real bitch.
Keep the shop open. Keep cutting hair. A license is just a piece of paper ... that you pay for. Let them put a 77 year old in jail over this. Just let them.
Yep, that’s the root cause issue that pro-liberty groups are ignoring.
“Why does a barber need a license?”
So the state can make money every time the renewal time hits.
This is EXACTLY what the Pennsylvania governor has threatened to do to those that dare open.
“Dont all of you get a sense that something not sure what, but SOMETHING is coming?”
I get a sense that something is being deliberately provoked by Democrat tyrants like Whitmer. That something is an armed rebellion, which will then be brutally put down and used to justify nationwide gun seizures.
These are truly perilous times.
