Psychology, conflicting rules, misinformation and anxiety fueling bad behavior and violence, experts say

As a culture war rages across the nation over whether to wear protective masks, closer to home the battle is spilling over into store aisles and shopping center parking lots with alarming frequency — and at times violent consequences.

Los Angeles police this week announced the arrest of two brothers who allegedly assaulted store employees and a security guard who attempted to escort them from a Target in Van Nuys for refusing to wear masks. ...

I figure that I have an immune system for a reason.

It's your first line of defense against disease.

Better have him be careful. A couple of kids in china have died doing p.e. With masks on. Another lady, here in the states, asphyxiated herself while driving a long distance across the US. Ended up passing out and wrecking her car.

No n95 type mask is meant to be worn for extended periods of time. Think about the painter for instance. He wears it while spraying but takes it off when he is not spraying. A doctor removes his between every patient, room, ect. These are times when the human body is not being inindated with co2.

With your fathers advanced age, he may not want to be doing his exercise with a mask on. It may very well be more dangerous to do so.

I said germs for a reason.

Germs are bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa.

"It's your first line of defense against disease." - Mrs R.

It would be his second line of defense if he wore a mask.

His third line of defense if other people wore a mask too.

In Sprouts (of all places) this morning, there were several of us with no masks. The majority of shoppers at another grocery store I visited after Sprouts had masks on. Go figure.

...the “expert” who told them to wear a mask now was saying a month ago.

Fauci did a Skype appearance on some show (my husband relayed this to me) and admitted that masks are just a way of reassuring the wearer, but they don’t do anything against transmission of the virus.

We’re just about finished with Phase 1 of Oklahoma’s re-opening, with Phase 2 starting on friday. I’d be willing to bet that after Friday, the number of virtue-signalers will drop even more.

Yesterday a very nice independent trucker came to our house to deliver a hand-crafted dining table; he not only delivered it, but set it up as well. He was in his thirties, very fit, and strong as an ox; not the sort you'd expect to ever worry about the coronavirus. Of course, as I expected, he was wearing a mask, but after we had gotten to talking, and he understood my opinion on the subject, he politely asked if he could take off the mask, since it was interfering with his breathing and making it nearly impossible to see through his glasses.

I represent companies who sell non medical masks, the masks that we are told we must wear.

Here is a disclaimer that comes with the masks from one of my suppliers:

“Not intended for medical use, not recognized by the CDC or FDA as safe or effective against covid-19 or any virus, no guarantee item will protect user from any illness.”

Does anyone seriously believe that the masks they’re telling us to make with t-shirt fabric at home is going to do more than that?

Forget the internet, the largest purveyor of false information is the various levels of government in the United States.

H. L. Mencken would be laughing his ass off were he alive today

I said germs for a reason. Germs are bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa.

Nevertheless, viruses won't. The mask might grow the other types of germs, but it won't grow viruses.

“Mask shaming erupts as latest public battle over coronavirus restrictions”

that ain’t working in my part of the colorado front range:

1. a week ago i stopped at a butcher shop to pick up some table cream from the local dairy store and some dude was standing outside of the door ... i didn’t know why and walked pass him to go in and he whined that he was observing the store’s 6-foot rule ... i promptly ignored him, walked pass him, entered the store, bought my cream by laying my money on the counter and yelling that i had left the money (they know me there) and walked out

2. Mrs. Catnipman stopped in at our little local post office to pick up some priority mail envelops and as she went in, some woman customer yammered at her that she was supposed to wait in line behind her to observe the 6-foot rule ... mrs catnipman brushed by her and got her envelops ... right behind mrs catnipman as she brushed by the yammerer, a guy followed her in to access his P.O. box, and the yammerer, not having yet learned her lesson, did the same whinging with the guy (who wasn’t wearing a mask), and the guy said, “Lady that’s my property in there and no one is going to stop me from getting it” ...

It would be his second line of defense if he wore a mask.

I'm talking about nature.

Uh, no.

But nice try.

Feel free to wear a bunny suit with a rebreather if you want.

I just am not going to do it.

...they work for medical professionals but not for the public???

Doctors/nurses do not want to exhale their usually benign personal flora into an open wound.

Dentists do not want to do the same into your open mouth, especially if they’ve irritated your oral tissue or caused a wound via extraction.

Medical professionals will take care if they need to insert a tube in a patient’s orifice (any of them).

It reduces iatrogenic infections.

Could you tell us which show it was that Fauci made this admission? I want to send the info to my bishop.

I will wear a mask if the store requires it. I think they should be able to make a decision like that . Otherwise I won’t wear a mask, because it has become a politically correct method of virtue signaling.

I never said it would. I said germs for a reason.

Or are you under the illusion that viruses are the only thing out there?

If so you should expand your knowledge base a bit.

“Went out today. About 70% of the people were wearing masks. I did not.”

about the same percentage here for my part of colorado’s front range ... i wear a mask, but i wear it on my chin, not covering my mouth or nose; the mask says “MAGA Mask” on it ... harder that way for someone to butt in to “explain” to me that i’m not wearing my mask “correctly” ... besides, it’s hard for mask wearers to make themselves understood ... no matter, everyone around here seems to mind their own business about whether they or others wear masks ...
