God made the human body extremely resilient to crushing. But I wouldn't stand in front of a truck.
God gave me a brain. That brain tells me things like, "Danny there's a train coming, get off the tracks." , "Danny, there's a bad virus spreading, stock up and stay home.", "Danny don't listen to the flubros. This is not a battle you want to fight."

I'm just trying to avoid catching it from the guy in the grocery store who thinks it's all about him and government trying to control him.

We have had 15 cases, no deaths, in our county. That is 3/100s of a percent. And now, after all this time our governor has decreed that we have to start wearing masks. I have my homemade Hanes tee mask. If a store I really want to enter says wear it or no service, I will wear it. But I’m not wearing it because Baby Face Beshear tells me to. The numbers simply don’t justify this paranoia and blind obedience to jerks whose goal is dominance.
I am damn tired of being threatened by would be despotic ignoramuses in elected office.
I am glad you wearing all those things makes you feel safe. For you they are a great placebo. But do not mistake your thoughts as the way humanity stops viruses.
There is only one way humanity has stopped viruses, and it is immunity.
More good news though, those of us who understand the immune system will do the heavy lifting, and you, along with all others, including the old and frail, will benefit. For that is the way it has worked for our entire existence.
It is also combined with sterile technique and sterile gloves/gown. The face is not touched once the mask is in place the masks are worn once the. discarded. A far cry from the snot rags people are wearing in the grocery stores

I cared for a quad family member. Early in the injury, he required PRN caths. I was taught sterile technique. It was nerve wracking to do that procedure as a lay person and keep all the rules in mind while avoiding a pressurized fountain of urine.
Like changing diapers on a baby boy.
But, hey: a bandana makes everyone _feel_ better. That’s what really counts.
With a corona virus masks imo are very important initially. They reduce the intake level of the virus. This gives the body more time to code anti bodies for the virus.
I’ve stopped wearing my mask when shopping just to pique my immune response.
WuhanXiFlu will be around for two years. But I’m hoping for reopening in May and herd immunity in the US by July. Quarantine the sick, not the healthy. We have the medical healthcare capacity now to deal with it.
A low viral exposure rate and time to allow the body to produce antibodies is the same as a vaccine. Masks and social distancing will do that. But after a few months most everybody is exposed and have antibodies.

No I spend every day trying to talk sense into people who are far more terrified of the economic consequences than I am.

I’ve never even seen an exhaust valve in a hospital setting.
I didn’t even know what they were when the pics began popping up in ads.
My understanding since is that the exhaust valve nullifies the reasons for the masks because it vents exhalations to the outside. My assumptions are that the valved masks are for construction/painting and the like.
In Jan 2019 I got the flu, first time in several decades at least. It seemed mild at first but morphed into pneumonia suddenly and I had a very close call.
During my followup with my family doctor a couple of weeks after getting out of the hospital he told me that because I worked at home it was his opinion that I was getting too little exposure which resulted in lower resistance to viruses.

Vaccines are a means towards immunity. Immunity is the key.
