National bus companies are headed to Washington D.C for a silent protest to ask lawmakers for aide as the COVID-19 pandemic has shut down a majority of their business.
The pandemic has taken a toll on all travel and transportation companies, including a local charter service.
Tuscaloosa Charter Service Manager Alicia Adams said the government has given $75 billion in aide to Amtrak and airline companies. National bus companies are asking for $15 billion to help survive their shutdown.
Adams said they havent had any trips scheduled since March 15 and have none booked for summer.
When the University of Alabama, Shelton, UWA, Montevallo and Stillman canceled their trips they pretty much cancelled us, Adams said. They dont understand that when the airlines take teams places, that were the ones who pick them up and get them from place to place while theyre in different states. We also do elementary schools, high schools, so when those industries shut down, we shut down
More than 300 bus companies from 46 states are joining the silent protest.
Adams said theyre meeting up with a few other companies on the way and everyone will arrive in Washington D.C on Wednesday.

Silly question - but exactly what is the purpose of protesting in DC? Nearly ALL of the economy-destroying shutdowns are from the state level (and some at the local/county level). How is protesting in DC going to fix that?
It’s amazing how the media is covering this major protest. They seem to cover it almost as much as the March for Life.
I thought the same. It seems they aren’t protesting to open the nation, they want the same money the airlines and railroads are getting.
Not really our kind of protest.
I don't claim to speak for the protesters - sounds like they want a bail out; Trump needs to spin it to open up the economy
Correct. It doesn't just sound like it - that's what they are demanding.
I could get behind them more if they were protesting to stop the unconstitutional orders and the stripping of our rights.
The problem is not one of “understanding”. These lockdown fiends are leftist tyrants who would kick you out of their paths if you were starving on the sidewalk.
Exactly.
The folks want to get back to work. The dems want them to sit home and die.
They want $trillions in bailout funding.
Its not about the shut down. Its about dipping their nose in the largess.
Will it even be reported by news outlets?
Is this the same bus company that transports antifa and liberal ‘elites’ to their fake protests? Same bunch?
I halfway cant blame them. They are being artificially kept from working so it stands to reason those doing that to them should pay.
Ultimately of course the taxpayers pay.
Then again we mostly voted those leaders in.
WE are being blamed for it ALL. This is how the left spins it.
They want federal bailout money.
I was wondering the same thing guess they want to pin it on Trump and/or get the heck out of town
Small point of editting:
” a silent protest to ask for AIDE.”
The correct form of that word would be “AID”.
Everyone regards bars, restaurants and diners as non-essential, but I see it differently.
Throughout history, resistance to government tyranny has always depended on informal gatherings of patriots in public places - pubs, taverns, diners, crowded marketplaces, etc.. - where old farts and young activists gather and bitch about an overreaching government.
Before this shutdown, small groups of friends would gather for breakfast at their local diner each morning, or happy hour after work at the local pub, or vets at McDonalds for coffee...
People seem to be dismissing these venues as non-essential - but they are not. Liberty depends on such informal gatherings taking place, and I find it very troubling that they seem to have been specifically targeted in this unconstitutional shutdown.
The Left seems particularly happy with these social venues being shut down for the foreseeable future. I wonder why that is.
” Liberty depends on such informal gatherings taking place,”

I agree,I’m an old lady retiree and went out to breakfast almost daily, talking with the “regulars”, and lunch with friends a couple of times a week. These shutdowns have virtually isolated people like me.
