Elon Musk hasn't been arrested, as production continues at Tesla without California county's permission

Elon Musk remained a free man on Tuesday afternoon, despite violating shelter-in-place orders by reopening Tesla’s Fremont, Calif., factory without permission from Alameda County, where the facility is located.

Musk tweeted on Monday that production had restarted, saying: “I will be on the line with everyone else. If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me.”

The county health department said Monday that Tesla had gone beyond the minimum allowed operations, which opened Musk up to a potential misdemeanor charge and either 90 days in jail or a fine of $1,000 per day. However, the Fremont Police Department, which would be the agency to enforce the law, told KGO News it had no intention of arresting Musk on Tuesday.

Permission should not be required.

Do you think we are gaining a few independent voters as a result of this insanity?

They’ll fine the hell out of him. Nobody is going to be arrested. Above all, the government wants money. Any way they can get it.

From your link:

“the massive factory, which employs 10,000 workers”

Alotta states love to have a business that employees that many....although I don’t think battery operated vehicles are the way forward I would love to see him move it to another state.

That's Shelly Luther

One stands up and wins and the others grow some

States that release their criminals over Corona would look pretty stupid locking up business owners

Elon Musk was formerly a liberal who was mugged making him a conservative.

This an easy one. CA officials know that if Musk follows through on his plans to move operations out of CA, they lose huge tax dollars. It would be like Apple moving their HQ out of CA.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking but I hope that this whole fiasco is slowly redpilling Musk and that he can eventually be one of the few Big Tech Titans that breaks away from the Leftist hive mind.

$1,000 a day fine? That’s peanuts for an outfit like tesla.

When they made those restrictions, I think they had intended a huge loophole for Big Tech, which can resort heavily to telecommuting, but they forgot about Tesla’s dependence on hands-on manufacturing. Oops. I’m sure they’ll come to some understanding soon.

There is a reason why there are no car manufacturers in California anymore or much of any manufacturing activity for that matter.Musk is learning that it is shortsighted to sell your soul to the blue devil for tax abatements and factory space as there will come a time when he will show up with a shovel to bury you or even worse, unionize you.Musk should count himself lucky that this time around, the blue menace just wants to disable him a bit.

While I agree with him, it is sad that in this country we have “class justice.”

If his name were Garcia and he were a hair dresser in Laredo Texas, they would form a “task force” and have him arrested in an under cover sting for violating the rules.

I am happy that some heavy weights are coming out swinging now, they get the publicity, they have lobbyists, they have the ear of the governor, law/policy makers, they have an army or lawyers to defend their interests. To bad that is what it takes to have your basic constitutional rights in America assured.
