Dauphin County commissioner to Gov. Wolf: ‘Enough is enough. Allow our businesses and communities to reopen.'
PennLive ^ | 8 May A.D. 2020 | Paul Vigna

Dauphin County Board Chairman Jeff Haste distributed a letter Friday afternoon pushing for Pennsylvania to be reopened immediately and to “return our state to the people (as prescribed by our Constitution) and not run it as a dictatorship.”

Haste noted that since Gov. Tom Wolf “closed the state to minimize the 54,238 positive cases, more than 1,793,200 Pennsylvanians have lost their jobs. This decision has ruined the livelihood of millions of hard-working Pennsylvanians in exchange for 0.4% of our population.”

He said that while he has “great sympathy for those who have lost loved ones to COVID-19. I also have great concern for the families that now have to struggle with financial concerns, mental health stress, addiction and more because of the shutdown. Again, our governor has pitted groups of Pennsylvanians against one another.”

Enough is enough, he said. Let’s open up our businesses and our communities. “For centuries, our people and businesses have shown they can adapt to changes to survive and prosper,” he wrote. “They cannot, however, do a thing when a dictator and an unelected secretary place them in lockdown.”

Wolf on Thursday night extended Pennsylvania’s stay-at-home order through June 4. The governor introduced a phased reopening, color-coding them as red, yellow and green. Dauphin County and, indeed, all of central Pennsylvania, remains under the red phase.

A total of 24 counties, largely in the northwest and northern parts of the state, moved into the yellow phase today. The governor said that another 13 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania, including the county that includes Pittsburgh, will be allowed to move to the yellow phase next Friday.

To me, the big question is whether the voters will blame Trump or the Democrats for causing this catastrophe?

Just read on another site (USA Today affiliate, can’t even link) that the Lebanon County Commissioners have gone one better.

Almost the entire County government, including DA and Sheriff have put the Commie on notice that they WILL go “yellow” next Friday.

Period.

“If that be treason, make the most of it”

The county-wide edicts are ridiculous on their faces as well. There are maybe forty deaths in all of Dauphin county and the top half of the county is practically empty of cases (there are lots of other counties like this too, but the one with the capital in it is the most obvious). Beaver county is only in the red category because of a nursing home outbreak, an outbreak likely caused by Wolf’s policies to clear out hospital beds in March.

Beside all of that, “yellow” isn’t much less restrictive than “red”. It’s all a cruel farce, but what are we gonna do about it?

The left has become more than frustrating because they are manipulators seeking power that want to take away freedoms including freedom of speech.

I was once a subscriber and reader that commented for many years on Pennlive until the big city big media cabal we call MSM had enough of giving subcribers and readers a voice. They now want to totally control the voice of the people. They no longer allow reader input and no longer get my money. Xxxx em and Wolf.

They should be open, and so should the NE.
The Delaware Valley is going to take longer, as we have not hit the peak yet.

Good for them. Dauphin County is dominated by the sh!t-hole of Harrisburg, so I'll bet those county leaders are very reluctant to get on the governor's bad side.

The Lebanon County folks seem to have finally figured out that the governor's stupid shutdown orders have so little basis in law that they are unenforceable if the county and municipal governments in PA decide to ignore them.

Wolf is a complete POS!

Hey PA,look at your life in PA DEMOCRAT State Prison and take a look at Wolf's Health Commissioner Dr. "Rachel" Levine. She/He/It whatever is running your life and Pennsylvania's continued economic and societal apocalypse.

I live in Dauphin Co. Harrisburg City is actually very small, only 48K population, and then it is only some of the ghetto-like neighborhoods that are a problem. The rest of the county is decent and relatively conservative (but not as conservative as it was 25 years ago). I know zero people who like Wolf or worry about Wolf. He doesn't have any political power here.

Once again it appears that Commissioner Haste is another among a legion of politicians that thinks there’s as much value in asking as there is in doing.

Maybe Haste can also ask Wolf for permission to gaze upon his own balls.

average age of a covid death apparently is like 75 yrs old....

many more much older of course...

I don't like to see death but it is our destiny to die....

and if it takes one virus, a virus that most have absolutely no symptoms, to knock you off, then probably you were about there anyway....

Someone should tell Wolf he could save thousands of lives by banning cars and trucks in Pennsylvania. It also may save the planet.

And in more good news, the Sheriffs of Cumberland and Perry Counties have state that they will not enforce the Governors’ orders....of course that is only the Sheriff, not State or local law enforcement.

But in Lebanon County the DA has said he will NOT prosecute charges of violating the Governor’s orders.
