California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday began relaxing his stay-at-home order that was issued to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, while also announcing that the state has a staggering $53.4 billion budget shortfall.

The plan to reopen will only allow certain retail businesses and manufacturers' warehouses to start opening up again, according to The Associated Press.

Other stores that will be allowed to reopen with curbside service -- if they meet government standards -- are bookstores, clothing stores, florists and sporting goods businesses.

Will there be the same outrage with the media as when Trump proposed this?

There should not be one cent of federal bailout money to these deep blue states that are deliberately committing suicide to get Trump defeated in November.
Not a cent.

I am getting impatient...

Curbside service only?

Too slow...
That was my reaction to Governor Gavin’s plan to open some stores this weekend...

About budget deficits...I don’t think CA is the only state which will have huge budget deficits...

Maybe the businesses should be opened up as soon as possible ...When they operate again, they will pay tax to the state...Governor Gavin, have you not considered that possibility? A business, which is closed, will not collect sales tax for the state...

My local news showed a clip of Governor Gavin talking about possible cuts...Public safety and education...
He will just propose ending Prop 13...He will ask people to pay more property taxes...

Is there any outrage coming re the guv’s Virus Contact Teams (about 20,000) who will go out and ask people about any contact with people who had the virus or suspected to have had the virus?

I want to nickname Herr Komeraden Newsome’s group as “Newsome’s Nazis”, his own personal political Gestapo snopes/Hitler Youth, who have the power to get people quarantined without any medical evidence of infection or even jailed if they refuse to provide the “contact workers” with the information they want.

Hope that California goes bankrupt financially. After all, it has been bankrupt morally, ethically, ideologically, spiritually and sanity-wise for many decades (of decadence).

OF course go for public safety and education cuts first to scare Karen about not having enough Police or Fire personnel, not the thousands of useless bureaucrats in the alphabet agencies who do noting of value.

California could always balance its budget.open for fracking. drill for oil offshore. Fine employers for hiring illegal aliens. The deficit is voluntary and can be corrected IF the people decide to do so.

Are these Blue State (and some Red State) governors really that stupid that they couldn’t see this coming?

And the red states that make up 9 of the he 10 biggest takers from the government should start giving more to the fed. You guys and your 1970 salaries contribute almost nothing to our federal budget income

Well, yes.

And there's plenty more where that came from.

That’s really hard to fathom, ain’t it?

I suspect that when this all started, a lot of public employee types thought this would be some sort of 1 or 2 month paid vacation, then everything would would go back to normal. Recall that government schools were the first to shut down, which IMHO was a big catalyst for the panic.

They had no clue it would ‘trickle down’ to their rice bowls.
