The US military is banning anyone who had COVID-19 from enlisting, according to a new memo

A military recruitment memo sent out by the US Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPCOM) outlines that those who have tested positive for COVID-19 will not be allowed to join the military — even after they recover. The memo has been widely circulating on social media and was first reported on by Military Times on Wednesday. Pentagon spokeswoman Jessica Maxwell confirmed to Military Times that the memo is authentic. According to the memo, all 65 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) around the country will implement new guidelines for determining the medical qualifications of enlisting recruits. According to Military Times, all new recruits will have their temperature taken and will answer questions about symptoms and potential contacts with those who have been exposed to COVID-19. The memo states that during the prescreen process, "a reported history of confirmed COVID-19 will be annotated as 'Considered Disqualifying'" and documented on their medical report. It adds that during the medical history interview or examination part of their application, "a history of COVID-19 confirmed by either a laboratory test or clinician diagnosis, is permanently disqualifying." It is unclear why a COVID-19 diagnosis would be permanently disqualifying for new recruits. Representatives for MEPCOM did not immediately respond to Business Insider for comment. According to Stars and Stripes, over 1,500 service members in the US military had tested positive for the new coronavirus as of April 6. That number includes service members who have since recovered.

If this isn’t fake news, it’s supremely dumb. For 99.9% of people who just get over the Beer Cold, it’s just a damn cold. So we’re not going to allow perfectly qualified people into the military because they caught a cold? Someone needs to be demoted if this is true.

If Fake News, it sure has gained a lot of traction. If “prudent precaution”, it would imply that the military knows something dramatic that the general public is NOT being informed of...

That’s a reasonable policy IMO. Scientists cannot say what,if any, long term effects might result from exposure.

It’s too soon to have any data on long term effects. Viruses generally don’t leave long term damage.

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) was identified as the cause of AIDS in 1983. ... Infection with HIV is medically disqualifying for entry into U.S. military service.4

Hope this tamps down this talking point.

There is something about the way all of these governments are treating this thing that just doesn’t add up and cannot be explained anymore by incompetence. I am coming along more and more that there’s something (very important) that we are not being told about this virus

Either way, Rats are suddenly going to be “patriotic” and demand equality for all who want to join the military.

Well as the herd worships herd immunity and that is 80% of the population, it seems the Chinese sock puppet WHO thinks the US should reduce our military by 80%.

All the better to eat you with my deer...

Globalism is for fools.

This sounds strange - people who’ve had COVID-19 and recovered should now have antibodies which will prevent them from catching the disease again. They’ve gotten vaccinated by the virus. Why on earth wouldn’t you want them in the military?

Fake. The rule was designed to keep recently infected people from exposing people. Saw a recruiter post online saying it just means they need to reapply later. It is not a permanent disqualification and potential recruits are not being told that they’re disqualified. I didn’t read that article, but I assume they didn’t interview recruiters.

and when herd immunity reaches about 70%, the outbreak is suppressed, but who is left to serve in the military?

Fake news would be my guess, as there is absolutely no reason to reject someone who caught the Wuhan virus anymore than there would be a reason he reject anyone who caught a flu virus. Business Insider is such a suspect POS of a rag anyway in my opinion.

If 70% of Americans eventually get the virus, that will sure cut down the recruiting pool.

Because they can still be spreading the virus?
