Most new Covid-19 hospitalizations in New York state are from people who were staying home and not venturing much outside, a “shocking” finding, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday.
The preliminary data was from 100 New York hospitals involving about 1,000 patients, Cuomo said at his daily briefing.
It shows that 66% of new admissions were from people who had largely been sheltering at home. The next highest source of admissions was from nursing homes, 18%.

He should watch Pandemic the movie Doctors said once the quarantine is lifted that would happen. Being sequestered made their bodies immune system lower.

Lockdown must be declared early like PDJT did to be effective in my non-medical opinion, which Cuomo didn’t do if I remember.
So Cuomo sent people home where they probably got less sunlight needed for vitamin D production which put them in a higher risk group, especially if quarantined with someone who possibly already had the virus.

This man should be tried for involuntary man-slaughter. He made every wrong decision he could possibly make. Now? He's ordering cleaning of the NY Subways? That would have taken priority over many other moves.
Governor Cuomo is a disgrace and will go down in history as such.
Perhaps New York City dwellers just do not wash all that much.

I have visited that slob city many times and I am disgusted by how they just put their trash on the sidewalks in big stinking filthy heaps and the rats just come out to feast.
No, because he's shocked his order hasn't worked in reducing hospitalizations. So being a democRAT, he'll just double down on the order and start arresting people for going outside.

fine, except there have been two or three warm sunny days in the last two months here in the northeast...
Just goes to show that if you force people to stay home, and only go out for necessities, it doesn’t do any good unless they wear masks when out and have their temperature checked.

I have long thought that “isolating” in your home or in a nursing home was probably the best way to guarantee that not only did you get it, you got a really bad case of it.
Everything depends on the viral load. A light load (from casual contact of some kind) is enough to trigger the immune system to fight back and it is usually successful at that point. But being in an enclosed place, breathing the same virus-laden air for days on end, and in other words giving yourself a serious, concentrated dose of virus, is the thing that totally swamps the immune system, especially in an older or weaker person.
I noticed in Italy, too, that it was elderly couples locked into their homes or nursing home patients, locked into their wards, who seemed to get the sickest and have the highest rate of fatalities.
