Gilead CEO says remdesivir will be available to treat coronavirus patients THIS WEEK and that the company has donated its entire supply - enough for up to 200,000 people - to the government

The CEO of Gilead Sciences, the company that makes the promising drug remdesivir, says it will be available to treat COVID-19 patients as early as this week after receiving approval from the FDA.

The drug showed promising results in a study of more than 1,000 people around the world and has been touted as one of the first steps in reopening the economy.

Scientists found that patients who were given it recovered 31 percent faster than those who did not and that the mortality rate among recipients was around three percent lower; it was 8 percent in the drug recipients and 11.6 percent in placebo patients.

In an interview with Face The Nation on CBS on Sunday, Gilead CEO Dan O'Day said the company had donated its entire supply of the drug to the government to roll out to hospitals across the US and that it will also send some overseas.

from dr coates:

We also have discovered Remdesivir looks to improve outcomes and decrease hospital stays. We also have seen very promising results in the outpatient field with Hydroxychloroquine and many studies are underway. In the hospital IL-6 inhibitors such as Tocilizumab look to be helping people in cytokine storm. In addition now the use of convalescent plasma therapy for severe disease is showing promising results. So yes it absolutely worked. There are many other treatments currently being tested to.

The results of the testing for this drug that I have seen have been underwhelming. It appears to have some impact, but it does not appear to be as effective to me as the HCQ regime.

However, I won’t politicize any effective treatment and if a company makes money - great! I know there are many who believe that the doom doctors are promoting this drug over HCQ for political or profit motives. I sincerely hope that is not true and am not yet ready to go there myself. They have been wrong about this virus from the beginning and it is difficult to not question their judgement with the advantage of hindsight, but if we later learn (as it appears) that we could have saved many lives by using this drug and it was refused for some bureaucratic or political purpose it will be pretty scandalous.

I think it is scandalous that the doom doctors have a one size fits all approach to the virus with their recommendations. We are not all elderly or infirm nor are we all NYC.

Trump is in a very precarious position right now. The politically safe move is to follow the recommendations of the doom doctors, but how wrong do they have to be before he selects a different path? The media and democrats will hate on him no matter what and blame him for everything, but when is he going to see that it’s past time to open things back up?

At what point will it be “bad politics” to get the country back open? His supporters want him to lead and his supporters are ready to return to work!

If you want it...
Very high rate of serious side effects in this test: 25% organ damage
PLUS 23% of recovered with liver damage

So 48% of test subjects damaged by the “:cure” although read the comments about the validity of thar

And it makes mice infertile...no mention of human tests

Gosh, she better never get lupus, arthritis or malaria....

It is the antibiotic zithro that has heart toxicity. Which is why some docs give hydroxy with zinc, and/or with alt antibiotic like doxycycline

I wouldnt want it unless I was failing.

I already have several hits on the oxidative stress spectrum with thalessemia and sleep apnea..and then add high blood pressure and vasodepressor syncope... so they better take me damn seriously if I get Wuhan flu and give me SOMETHING right away before I crash.

I will be asking for Trumps Drug immediately and in the meantime taking what some Drs are taking as their protocol.

No, it does far better earlier on. Which is why the studies they have been doing on it of late are meant to discredit it: giving 50% more than the regular dosage, without zinc and/or a z-pac and/or on only the very sickest lost causes. THen of course with biased results fed to the MSM hyenas to further the agenda.

HCQ has been tested via being given to millions and millions for other diseases over the years and many thousands already in the field for this.

The tests on coronavirus for Gilead’s sunk-cost drug at this point have been either negative or done by Gilead itself with no control group.

And again, it costs 1500 times what HCQ costs.

But go ahead and try sliming again if you want.

She does have arthritis, and she cannot take hydroxychloroquine for it. Azithromycin does indeed have a much greater chance of cardiac issues, but HCQ isn’t completely clear in that department either - her major cardiac problem is tachycardia and per several doctors she’s seen, HCQ is counterindicated.

Not that I’ve seen, but I’ve had to work more than usual (’essential’ IT worker here) and I’ve lately not been able to read up as much as I usually do.

> “That would be most of the quinine drugs, including hydroxychloroquine. Both it and azithromycin can cause cardiac issues.”

Aspirin has cardiac issues. HCQ has a side effect profile no more dangerous than aspirin.

Azithromycin is replaced with Doxycyclin for patients with certain cardiac issues and vulnerabilities. It’s up to the MD who manages care.

You have no idea of the forces funding the propaganda aimed at scaring, biasing viewers against HCQ.

You will find out later.

does it have the blood clotting issues that come with ECMO. someone whose daughter is a nurse said the blood is so thick in patients

All I know is what I have read in Google search, no access to Med Line or many other of the professional services. It seems to remove CO2 which apparently makes it easier for Oxygen to enter blood cells. It is apparently used by anesthesiologists even in lung transplant operations. Dr. Mom said it was only a CO2 removal process, I politely asked her if it was possible that it was only an oxygen facilitator not an oxygenator as I had read. The snarky comment she made today was just her answer I guess.

You also seem to think it’s an either/or proposition. Most of us can use the HCQ cocktail and we should be allowed to use it. Thing is, there’s people that this cocktail absolutely cannot be used on and we need treatment for them too.

Or are you saying we should just ignore them and let them die?
