Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame coach Don Shula died on Monday morning at the age of 90, the franchise confirmed in a release on Twitter.
Don Shula was the patriarch of the Miami Dolphins for 50 years, the Dolphins said in their release. He brought the winning edge to our franchise and put the Dolphins and the city of Miami in the national sports scene. Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Mary Anne along with his children Dave, Donna, Sharon, Anne and Mike.
Shula was one of the most notable coaches in NFL history, posting a career record of 328-156 in 33 years roaming the sidelines for the Baltimore Colts and the Miami Dolphins. While Shula won an NFL Championship in 1968 with the Colts and two Super Bowls with the Dolphins, no season stands out more than the 1972 season.

A fine man and a great coach. RIP, Coach Shula.
sorry to hear of his passing.
RIP Coach.....hope I live that long.
Sad, great coach. One of the best. I think that pretty much leaves Bud Grant and John Madden from that era. Only God is immortal. We have conditional mortality. RIP.
Ruined the Bears unbeaten season in 1985......Never forgave him for that.
A class man and great coach! RIP
RIP. Father time is also undefeated.
Lousy when the Colts fired him for losing the Superbowl to Namath and the Jets, best thing for him though, he made Miami a powerhouse for years.
Exactly. A class act and a credit to the game of football.
RIP, Coach.
I lived in Miami during the heyday. I will never forget 1972 the year we went 17-0. Tailgate parties, going to the games. It was great!
I remember him when he was with the traitors....Baltimore Colts.
Left town in dead of night.
RIP, 90 years old is a good run for a male.
I have always thought he would have particularly flourished in todays game, with so much roster turnover. As Bum Phillips once put it, He can take hisn and beat yourn, and he can take yourn and beat hisn.
Bad time for a football legend to die. Will family and friends be allowed to attend the funeral?
RIP Coach.
RIP soldier.
RIP Don Shula.
Speaking of Bud Grant, here’s a recent story. He’s 92 and enjoying retirement. Hunting is still a pastime of his. I did not know that he had polio as a child.
I was there then as well. Remember Flipper celebrating each touchdown in his tank? Took my 11 year old to the Super Bowl. What a thrill for both of us.
You forgot Gary Yepremian.
He was in all the rest.
